Dragons will no longer become skeletons when you kill and absorb their souls! This mod makes a very simple change to a script by disabling the skin evaporation animation. You will still experience the glory of absorbing their souls, but their bodies will still be intact for now!
Dragons will no longer become skeletons after absorbing souls. Originally inspired by Strazytski's Dragon Remains SSE, the mod was never updated to be compatible with the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch.
I've never been a fan of vapor animations because you absorb their souls instead of their skin and flesh. Not to mention I love looking at the dragons I'm slaying because of their amazing texture details that other parody authors have spent so much time making.
This mod disables "SkinFadeOut/BloodFade/ArrowFade" on an existing script. All dragons, including all modded dragons added to the game, will no longer evaporate into skeletons when absorbing souls, leaving behind blood stains and pincushions with arrows.
compatibility:
Compatible with unofficial Skyrim Special Edition patch. (Loaded after USSEP)
Compatible with all dragon mods
Requires Dragonborn DLC to be enabled.
Incompatible with any mod that changes the dragon death animation script (MQKillDragonScript). I don't think they are the other mods that change this script, so you're good to go, but always check!

Q: Is it forbidden to absorb the dragon soul or how does the dragon body disappear?
Answer: No, the mod will only disable the death evaporation animation.
Q: Will this work on consoles?
A: I have no plans to port this mod to consoles, anyone is welcome to upload their own!
Q: I didn't absorb some dragon souls! How can I solve it?
A: When you lay eggs in a dragon or kill the same dragon in the same location, you sometimes absorb their soul. This is Bethesda to you and there's nothing I can do about it.

As with any mod, uninstalling is not recommended. However, if you do need to uninstall this mod, make sure they are not dead dragons in the game before uninstalling. If they are dead dragons in the game then go to any interior, save the game, uninstall the mod then wait 30 days, save and reload. You should go well.

I never liked the evaporation animation since you are absorbing their soul, not their skin and flesh. Not to mention I love checking out the dragons I've killed for their amazing texture detailing other mod authors poured so much time into making.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
