Dol Khazun - Mountain Stronghold

I am Morn gra-Nargol, the former person in charge of this position. It insults me to write in such a dirty language like yours, but I digress. Within the pages of your dirty foreigner's hands you will discover the history of this stronghold, its titles, and the story of its downfall.

describe

Dol Khazun is a medium-sized Orcish fortress located in the mountains east of the North Brittleshin Pass.

Built on a large corner carved by a now-extinct waterfall, this great fortress has managed to survive for hundreds of years thanks to its sturdy structure, strategic location and wild inhabitants. Featuring a detailed backstory, great care has been taken to ensure maximum immersion and friendliness - you won't find any Superman Dovahkiin nonsense or mannequin mountains.

During construction, a high level of emphasis was placed on the priority list. For example, silver and corundum were chosen as mines because these two minerals, silver and copper, often appear together in real life. Most every placed object has a story and purpose as well as a presence

Itself has a detailed backstory provided in the form of journals that you can discover as you explore the fortress. Additionally, there are many Easter eggs and secrets scattered around the fortress waiting for you to find them.

Dol Kazun has blacksmith, enchantment, alchemy, and cooking facilities, three indoor facilities, including a chief's chamber (i.e., the player's home); a larger basement with living and sleeping areas, kitchen, and hot springs; and a small mine containing veins of corundum and silver ore. All containers should be stored securely, but if I've missed any please let me know.

The section of Dol Khazun will initially lock you out. There's a key hidden somewhere in the fortress (hint: others are trying to find it in front of you), which fully exploits its potential as a player.

Dol Khazun was born out of dissatisfaction with the current scope of the Stronghold player home (and LE, for that matter). Not only are there too few, but many seem to follow the very basic vanilla layout too closely or are placed in unfamiliar locations - too open, or too close to the point, etc. With this mod I hope to address these concerns and provide an unparalleled Tamriel friendly experience. Osimer is a beast that lurks in the far reaches of Skyrim and in hidden places, and Dol Khazun reflects this.

technical details

Note that the exterior is not NavMeshed and the interior is janky at best. Since this is my first time trying to modify an external navigation task like Dol Khazun the task feels quite daunting, but it is on the to-do list. Unfortunately, your fans can't live up to their title for the time being. The mines and cargo bays are based on existing units (Broken Tusk Mine and Dushnikh Yal Cellar respectively), which have been heavily edited to fit the Dol Khazun concept. Again, being a new molder, I decided not to create the interior from scratch because I wanted to actually release the damn thing in a feasible time frame.

All lights are balanced around vanilla values. I could create a darker version of the interior for those using the lighting overhaul. At the same time, it's not a big deal to tweak and tweak the lights in CK to suit your specific setup since there's not that much to change. If you decide to make a patch for ENB/ELE/ELFX etc. please let me know and I will add it to the file.

Update on NAVMESH:

Thankfully, several people made it through the entire exterior and interior space. Looking forward to it in version 1.3!

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
