Simple DLL plugin loader.

About this mod Machine translation

Simple DLL plugin loader.

How to install:

  • Go to your Skyrim Special Edition root directory. This is the folder where SkyrimSE.exe is located, usually "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\"
  • Rename "binkw64.dll" to "binkw64_.dll" <- now there is a _ at the end.
  • Place the "binkw64.dll" from the downloaded archive into the folder mentioned in step 1.
  • If you did it correctly, you should now have two files in the folder: "binkw64.dll" and "binkw64_.dll" and that's it, you can start the game right away.

How to check if everything is OK:

  • Go to the location where "binkw64.dll" (SkyrimSE.exe folder) is installed
  • Create a new file named "binkw64.log" that does not exist, make sure the extension is "log" and not "txt"!
  • Start the game and then exit the game, if you only go to the main menu, no need to load into any saved game.
  • Now open the "binkw64.log" file and it will say which plugins were checked and whether they loaded correctly.
  • If the file is empty, the plugin cannot be found! This may indicate a problem with permissions, or the folder path "Data\DLLPlugins" does not exist.

For mod authors - how to load DLL:

  • Place your dll file in "Data\DLLPlugins". That's it, your plugin will load automatically.

(2.) Optional! If you need to run some code that can't be done in DllMain due to loader lock or other issues, add that code anywhere:

outer "C"

{

__declspec(dllexport)void Initialize()

{

  //Do whatever you want here...

}

}

This function will be called immediately after DllMain, but if you are only performing simple memory editing, this function is not needed.

Why make another one if others already exist?

I need to load the plugin before executing the static constructor in the game code.

How to install:

  • Go to your Skyrim Special Edition root directory. This is the same folder where SkyrimSE.exe is, usually "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\"
  • Rename "binkw64.dll" to "binkw64_.dll" <- now there's a _ at the end.
  • Put the "binkw64.dll" from downloaded archive into the folder mentioned in step 1.
  • If you did it correctly you should have two files in your folder now: "binkw64.dll" and "binkw64_.dll", that's all, you can start the game now.

How to check if everything is working correctly:

  • Go to where you installed "binkw64.dll" (SkyrimSE.exe folder)
  • Create a new file if it does not exist called "binkw64.log", make sure the extension says "log" and not "txt"!
  • Start game and then exit game, it's fine if you only entered to main menu, no need to load into any save game.
  • Now open the "binkw64.log" file, it will say what plugins if any were checked and whether they loaded correctly.
  • If the file is empty then no plugins were found! This could indicate a problem with permissions or the folder path "Data\DLLPlugins" does not exist.

For mod authors - how to get your DLL to load:

  • Put your dll file in "Data\DLLPlugins". That's all, your plugin will be loaded automatically.

(2.) OPTIONAL! If you need to run some code that can't be done in DllMain due to Loader lock or other issues then add this code to anywhere:

extern "C"

{

__declspec(dllexport) void Initialize()

{

// Do whatever you want here...

}

}

This function will be called immediately after DllMain, but this is not required if you only do simple memory edits.

Why make another one when others already exist?

I needed the plugin to be loaded before static constructors are executed in game code.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
