About this mod Machine translation
Replaced turn animations with idle animations to improve mental health for third-person players.
question
Bethesda did not conduct playtesting and did not consider many of the features included in the game. While it's best to include them and let players fix them, it's also sometimes confusing how to allow certain things to stay as-is.
Skyrim has no animation smoothing and no animation warping. Once you move the mouse far enough that it sends a move command to Skyrim; the game will start playing the turn animation.
If the difference between the idle animation and the turn animation is different, "jerk" will play. Not a big issue on the controller. An impossible-to-miss mouse.
solution
Finds every idle animation file associated with a turn animation. Then copy that idle and rename it to xxxxx_turnleft60.hkx and xxxx_turnright60.hkx
This will work with any animation mod. Just make sure the file structure is data/mesh/character/character/animation
I don't use vanilla animations. They are included only as an example for others looking for a fix.
Keep in mind that the turn animation drawn by a stealth weapon is a combination of the idle states of any weapons you have equipped. So find animations that work in multiple locations if needed.
bugs/burrs
In addition to the sneakiness issues already mentioned. The player character will skate unless you turn around quickly. There is no way to solve this problem without a new animation engine. Putting the turn animation on idle will make the character skate constantly because the animation will play like a youtube video anyway. Wait, wait.
conflict
It's just renamed to vanilla idle animation. So there's no script and nothing. Place it below the mod that adds animation. Or better yet, compile your own animation archive and use this "fix" as described in the Solution.

The Issue
Bethesda did not play-test or consider many features they included in the game. While it is better to include them and let the players fix them, it is also at times baffling how certain things are allowed to be as they are.
Skyrim does not have animation smoothing nor does it have animation morphing. As soon as you move the mouse enough for it to send a move-command to skyrim; the game will start playing the turn animations.
If the difference between the idle animation and turn animation are different, then a "jerk" will be played. Not a big issue on a controller. Impossible to miss on a mouse.
The sollution
Find every idle animation file that is associated with a turn animation. Then copy that idle and rename it to xxxxx_turnleft60.hkx and xxxx_turnright60.hkx
This will work for any animation mod. Just make sure that the file-structure is Data/meshes/actors/character/animations
I do not use vanilla animations. They are simply included as an example to other people who are looking for a fix.
Remember that the sneak-weapon-drawn turn animation is a combination of the idle of whatever weapon you have equipped. So find animations that work in multiple positions if needed.
Bugs/glitches
Aside from the already mentioned sneak-turn issue. The player character will ice-skate unless you turn quickly. Without a new animation engine, there is no work around for this. Putting the turn animation as idle will see the character ice-skate without pause, since the animation will play like a youtube video regardless. And blah blah jadidaah.
Conflicts
It is just renamed vanilla idle animations. So, no scripts, no nothing. Place below mods that add animations. Or better yet, compile your own archive of animations and use this "fix" as described under The Sollution.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
