Depreciation - Reduces crime bounties over time
(Originally created for SSE, now also converted to Classic Skyrim)
With this mod, crime bounties will gradually decrease over time. Ultimately, your bounty is zero. You can choose how much to reduce each night, whether it's a percentage, a fixed number of coins, or both. You can choose whether being on a reservation will prevent reduction (requiring exile), or only prevent reduction if you are in or near the capital of that reservation. You can choose whether acquiring a new bounty will restore all bounties deleted since your bounty was last at zero, or whether only attacks below a certain threshold will be reinstated. You can choose whether to use a single default set for all holds, or customize each hold to treat its bounty differently. Finally, you can choose to break exile with a lair in which the bounty is, preventing the bounty from being reduced in that lair (or only being reduced, or to a lesser extent).
Since the only thing this mod touches is the current bounty of each staging - it will check it every night at midnight and re-determine it if necessary - hopefully it should be compatible with all other mods. I've tried using it in Open City and it's compatible. I've also built in compatibility for Falskaar and Bruma.

In the "Miscellaneous Files" section I also include the script for determining which Hold the player is on. It's similar to the equivalent script for the Hold Checker, except that I mapped my own coordinates to align as closely as possible with the Hold bounds. I'm making this available for free as a modder resource for others who need to know which Hold state the player is currently in.

With this mod crime bounties can gradually decrease over time. Eventually your bounty becomes zero. You can choose how much it decreases each night, and whether it decreases by percent or by a set amount of coin, or both. You can choose whether being in the hold will prevent reduction (Requires Exile), or whether reduction is only prevented if you are inside or near the capital city of that hold. You can choose whether gaining a new bounty will restore all bounty removed since your bounty was last zero, or whether only offenses worse than a certain a threshold lead to such a restoration. And you can choose whether to use a single default set of values for all Holds or to customize each Hold to treat their bounties differently. Finally, you can choose whether breaking exile in a hold allied with a hold where you have a bounty will prevent the bounty from being reduced in that hold (or will only have a chance of being reduced, or will be reduced to a lesser degree).
Since the only thing this mod touches is the the current bounties of each hold - which it checks every night at midnight, re-determining it if necessary - it should hopefully be compatible with all other mods. I have tried using it with Open Cities, and it is compatible. I have also built in compatibility for Falskaar and Bruma.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
