Just a flashback, it adds a new shield to the game, the "Darkened Nordic Shield", which is identical to the Nordic Shield in every way except the color, so people can still use the regular Nordic Shield. You can craft Nordic armor using the appropriate additional crafting.
You can also add it using the console command. Just type help "Darkened Nordic Shield" to get its id then type player.additem [idnumber] 1
