About this mod Machine translation
Make the dungeon darker. But not pitch black. The script is free and lightweight.
What does this do?
It makes the dungeon darker and more atmospheric. DLC dungeons are also included.
It doesn't make them black.
Torches will be more useful than vanilla now.
See examples in screenshots.
How is it done?
Simply make the base ambient light darker by editing the vanilla lightning template/preset.
The base dungeon graphics space has also been made slightly darker.
The dungeon itself is untouched and unedited = I didn't remove any candles or torches, I didn't move any objects etc.
There should be 0 impact on fps/performance.
No scripts added to this mod.
stay compatible
As mentioned above, this mod only affects lighting templates and a default dungeon image space. If another mod edits this thing, it will be a conflict. Not a ctd conflict, but one mod overwriting the other. Everything else should be fine.
No, I didn't list which mods are or are not compatible.
good to know
There may be some dungeons that don't use templates. Or just use part of the template. If you find a dungeon that's still too bright, leave a comment and I'll sort it out. I haven't had time to test every dungeon in the game yet.
If you have any modded dungeons that use the vanilla lightning template, they will also be darkened.
Since my computer is old and crappy, I don't play SE, so I simply tested the SE version. If it seems weird, leave a comment.
The Draugr offers cozy candlelight and a good book.
-> Also works on oldrim

I don't play SE on account of my computer being old and shitty, so I have only tested the SE-version very briefly. Post a comment if something looks weird.
Draugr enjoy relaxing with cozy candlelights and a good book.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
