01Introduction and Explanation

"Darkest Dungeon of Nirn - Pressure" is a mod inspired by the game "Darkest Dungeon" that brings certain aspects of the pressure mechanic from that game to the world of Skyrim. Unlike other "needs" models, DCoN focuses on mental health rather than physical needs.

02System and functions

(For a more complete description of these systems and features, see the readme file)

Stress Gain: Time spent outside of safety, whether in the backcountry of the wilderness or deep in a room on a cart, can cause you to develop stress. The amount of pressure gained is random to a certain extent, but is affected by a variety of conditions, including the amount of lighting in the immediate area, whether you're in a safe location (such as a city or village), and whether you're in combat.

Stress Relief: Not all hope is lost. If you find yourself approaching peak madness, there are many ways to reduce stress: spend time in a safe place, get a good night's rest, and eat food.

AFFLICTION AND VIRTUE: No matter how careful you are, your Resolve will inevitably be tested when you generate 100 points of stress. When this happens, you gain pain or virtue.

AFFLICTED: When you are the one suffering, there are seven types of suffering that can apply:

Abuse: Damage increased, but accuracy reduced, armor greatly reduced.

FEARFUL: Increases armor and speed, but reduces damage.

HOPELESS: Reduces speed, armor and accuracy.

IRRATIONAL: Increases speed, but reduces damage, armor and accuracy.

MASOCHISTIC: Greatly reduces armor.

PARANOID: Increases armor and speed, but reduces damage.

Self: Increases armor, but reduces damage and accuracy.

VIRTUOUS: There are five virtues you can apply when you become kind:

COURAGEOUS: Increases resistance to stress and gains greater strength from Courageous Calling, granting you and your allies extra health, stamina, and healing rates.

Focus: Bonuses critical hit chance and attacks that ignore some opponent's armor.

Mighty: Increased damage and access to Mighty summon greater power, granting you and your allies extra damage.

STALWART: Dramatically increases resistance to stress.

VIGOROUS: Increases armor and healing rate, and greatly increases speed.

Traditional Vows and Virtual: Optionally, pain and virtue in the grassworm's stress model can be enabled. This is a hard-coded feature of DCoN and does not require the use of grasscid's mods to implement these features.

Once the pain is gained, it's not lost until you reduce it to a relaxing location (such as a hotel) and your stress is 60 or lower. On the other hand, virtue is lost once you return to safety, regardless of your current stress level.

Heart Attack: If you go too hard and manage to generate 200 points of stress after gaining pain, you will suffer a heart attack. This is fatal if you are also at death's door.

On Death's Door: Whether you do it through a heart attack, or simply by taking too much damage, when your health drops to around 10%, you're on Death's Door, which imposes significant debuffs, the most important of which is suppressed healing rates, which prevents automatic recovery.

03 MCM option

DCoN provides an MCM, which has three pages: "General Options", "Advanced Options" and "System".

General Options: This page contains general options for the most basic level of cusomization.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
