Curse of the Dragon - Vampire and Werewolf Hybrid
This mod is the successor to my Vampire Lord & Werewolf Hybrid mod, allowing you to play as both a vampire and a werewolf at the same time. I tried to change as little as possible in the base game to make the mod as compatible as possible with the Vampire and Werewolf Overhaul mods, which is really the only way to play.

Version 1.7 is available!
This release includes Sacrosanct and Sacrosanct/Moonlight Tales compatibility patches.
Please report any issues in the post or - even better - in the bugs section. I promise to keep an eye out!
My latest testing shows that Curse of the Dragonborn is fully compatible with Bloodmoon Rising. No patch required. But Bloodmoon Rising and Moonlight Tales are not compatible! Don't try to install them together!
describe
This mod is the successor to my Vampire Lord & Werewolf Hybrid mod, allowing you to play as both a vampire and a werewolf at the same time. I tried to change as little as possible in the base game to make the mod as compatible as possible with the Vampire and Werewolf Overhaul mods, which is really the only way to play.
What does this mod do?
The first time you launch the game after installing the mod, Curse of the Dragonborn will be added to the Magic Inventory in the Active Effects list (press the P key on your keyboard). You'll see two new constant effects:
Resistance to Cure Werewolf
Resist Cure Vampire
You can no longer cure vampires or werewolves as long as the curse remains active. Therefore, if you are already a werewolf, becoming a vampire will not cure your werewolf. Vice versa, if you are already a vampire, becoming a werewolf will not cure you of your vampirism. If you have completed the Companions questline and the Dawnguard questline and have healed one of them, you can return to either Aela to regain Lycanthropy, or you can return to Serana to regain the gift with the Sanguinare Vampiris. In either case, when you regain possession of one, you won't be able to heal the other. If you install the Vampire or Werewolf Overhaul mod, you may be given the option to turn you into a Vampire or Werewolf.
What this mod won't do
This mod does not create any new races, change your appearance, skills and powers, or change how you become a vampire or werewolf in any way. You still need to go through the regular channels to become one. This means that to become a werewolf, you have the following possibilities:
Follow the companion quest line to obtain the Blood of the Beast
Install a werewolf overhaul mod like spwned Moonlight Tales SE. With MT, you can become a werewolf using the Tools section of the MT menu.
To become a vampire, you have these possibilities:
Follow the Dawnguard questline and get bitten by Lord Harker or Serana
Infect Sanguinare Vampiris and wait three days
Install a vampire overhaul mod like Brehanin's Better Vampires or Enai Siaion's Sacrosanct. Both mods have the option to make you a vampire.
Require
This mod requires the following mods:
SKSE64
SkyUI
Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch
Curse of the Dragon wouldn't function properly without them!
compatibility
This mod changes several vampire and werewolf related quests and scripts. Therefore it requires a patch for any mod that changes the same quest or script. The main file has a fomod installer that automatically loads the correct merge patches for Better Vampires or Sacrosanct and Moonlight Tales.
Recommended Mods:
better vampire
sacrosanct
moonlight story
Bloodmoon Rising (fully compatible, no patches required)
Warning: Don't try to run better vampires and sacrosancts together! They are not compatible. Better Vampires does provide a Sacrosanct compatibility patch, but I don't support this patch.
Install
As of version 1.2, the main file uses FOMOD to install the correct .esp, depending on what other mods you have installed. These ESPs are already merged with the necessary patches, so no optional patch files are required. I recommend installing this mod using a mod manager such …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
