About this mod Machine translation

Creature mod guide to help you choose what to use in your game.

Like many Skyrim fans, I was introduced to Elder Scrolls lore and the modding scene, and became aware of the constant conflict between the two. Yeah, replacing Alduin with Thomas the Tank Engine is a blast, I won't judge, but if the game you plan on playing is as close to the lore as possible, you're going to be picky about what mods you use

It can be hard to sift through what's out there, so I decided to create this guide to help me choose the mods I want to add to my game. I decided to share it so that others can use it to help customize their own Skyrim experiences.

Divided into three categories:

Canon: 100% confirmed creatures in The Elder Scrolls

Canon Flexible: Those creatures that don't actually appear in the legend, but resemble other legendary cannon creatures, can pass. Including several real-world animals that would arguably make logical sense in Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls as a whole.

Non-Canon: There are no mentions of these creatures in The Elder Scrolls cannon, and many of them originate from other games and media. Includes some real-world animals and ancient animals whose existence in Skyrim may be questionable

Provides more information on the likelihood of this creature appearing in the Skyrim province, whether in Legends, Special Edition, or other mods. Currently, I have only looked at Mihail's creature mods, but I will slowly go through the most popular creature packs, analyze their contents and add more information accordingly. If you have any suggestions, questions, additions or corrections, please feel free to leave a comment. Please note that this is my first time doing something like this, thank you for your feedback. Additionally, a lot of this guide really comes down to personal preference. Adding any creature can easily be justified with a little creativity, so it all depends on what you want. Good luck!

Analyzing Skyrim Immersive Creatures and Monster Mod SE

————————————————————————————————

Like many Skyrim fans, I’ve taken to the lore of Elder Scrolls and to the modding scene and become aware of the conflicts that often crop up between the two. Yeah, yeah, replacing Alduin with Thomas the Tank Engine is a blast and I’m not going to judge, but if you’re planning on a playing a game that sticks as closely to the lore as you can, you tend to be picky with what mods you use.

It can be hard to sift through what’s out there, so I decided to create this guide to help me pick which mods I wanted to add to my play-through. I decided to share it so others can use it to help customize their own Skyrim experiences.

There are three categories:

Canon: creatures that are 100% confirmed to exist in the Elder Scrolls

Canon Flexible: creatures that have not actually appeared in lore, but are similar enough to other lore-cannon creatures to get a pass. Includes several real-world animals that arguably make logical sense in the world of Skyrim as well as the Elder Scrolls at large.

Non-Canon: no reference of any kind to these creatures exists in Elder Scrolls cannon, with many having their origin in other games and media. Includes some real-world animals and paleo-fauna whose presence in Skyrim may be considered questionable

Further information is provided on how likely the creature in question would appear in the province of Skyrim, whether it appears in Legendary or Special Edition, or in other mods. For now I have only looked at Mihail’s creature mods, but I’ll be slowly going through the most popular creature packs, analyzing their contents and adding more information accordingly. If you have any suggestions, questions, additions or corrections, feel free to post a comment. Please note that this is the first time I’ve done anything like this, so I appreciate the feedback. Also, a lot of this guide is really down to personal preference. It’s easy to justify the addition of any creature with a little creativity, so it’s all dow …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
