Rustic Weathers - TrueStorms compatibility patch

Another merged compatibility patch to make True Storms compatible with Rustic Weathers And Lighting. Real Storm includes many subtle effects that may not seem like much at first glance, but they add atmosphere and intensity to stormy weather. I've yet to find a weather mod that doesn't benefit from the added audio and particle effects that True Storms brings, so while this is indeed a compatibility patch, I prefer to think of it as a stormy weather overhaul. Even if you don't plan on including True Storms in your load order, I highly recommend giving this setup a try, as True Storms does a really great job at amplifying storms. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

feature

  • Revolutionize all Rustic storm and rainy weather audio and effects by merging over 30 thunder, wind and rain sounds from True Storms with the Rustic system. All audio is evenly distributed across all weather to ensure no two weather looks or sounds the same.
  • Assigning some of True Storm's unique weather to Rustic's regional data makes sense, being especially careful not to add weather that wouldn't look out of place in Rustic's weather system.
  • Learn about Solstheim zone data, including added changes to Ember Storms from True Storms, and support for those added by Wet & Cold for a completely revamped Solstheim weather system.
  • Visual preference for both versions. Both versions include all of the above features, they just change the "aesthetics" of stormy weather by adjusting things like ambient lighting, shading, fog settings, and more. No major features of Rustic Weather have been changed in this patch.

Here's an overview of both versions:

-Nimbus-

This version retains nearly all of Rustic Weathers' original stormy aesthetic, adding True Storms rain/snow effects and audio. If you're looking for a version that just comes with True Storm's effects and audio without changing anything from Rustic Weathers, then this is the version for you.

-Horizons-

This version retains more of the aesthetic of the real storm, but blends the two together more evenly and darkens the atmosphere slightly for added intensity. If you're looking for a version that maintains more of the True Storms aesthetic, this is the version for you.

The video below compares the two versions to help you decide on your preference. I'm using Lighting Overhaul (ELFX) and ENB (SkyrimSE Re-Engaged) for the videos and screenshots, so keep in mind that your version may differ based on your own ENB and mod setup. Unfortunately the audio isn't that great, as I don't have the best editing software, so it's a bit hard to hear the thunder and rain added by True Storms in the patched version. But I guarantee they are in the game :)

Install and load orders

The patch requires Rustic Weathers and True Storms to be loaded, and they should be loaded in the load order:

Rural Weather and Lighting.esp

TrueStormsSE.esp

Rustic_TS_Patch_Nimbus.esp

Either

Rustic_TS_Patch_Horizons.esp

If you want to update to a newer version, just uninstall the old version and install the newer version. This is completely safe in the mid-game.

Make sure you only choose one of the four versions offered. The optional Water's Edge Fix versions are the same as the original master, they just merge LoD7995's fix directly for those users who are still on the blocky Water's Edge. If you use one of these versions, you no longer need to load his Water's Edge Fix patch.

compatibility

This patch basically combines Rustic Weathers and True Storms into a single weather model, so it won't be compatible with any mods that change areas or weather records. Some good examples are:

  • All other weather modules.

-Darker Nights - The official patch is now available as a Darker Nights download option, covering both versions. Thank you a ton Unforgiv …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
