What does this mod do?
This mod adds two new dialogue options, "Praise" and "Insult", to most generic NPCs. Once per day, there is a small chance that complimenting an NPC will increase their attitude towards you - if successful, they will become friendly to you. Likewise, the chance of insulting an NPC is slim. Depending on your presentation skills, they are more likely to have an impact (positive or negative). Additionally, one compliment or insult per day (per person) will give you a small amount of Speech XP.
You can continue to compliment/insult someone after the first day, but there will be no gameplay effect until the second day. This prevents players from just spamming "compliments" to get someone to instantly like you, etc. The idea is that if you say nice things to the same person over time, they will start to get to know you and like you more; with insults the opposite happens. Sure, maybe you'll snap at someone and they'll instantly dislike you, or you'll give a surprise compliment that's exactly what they wanted to hear and they'll instantly like you. If you have high presentation skills, you're more likely to pull it off, but there's still no guarantee.
Why are you making this mod?
Some background - I was inspired by the Oblivion mod I was using back in the day, Strategy Master's Persuasion Overhaul. This mod replaces the single-player "Persuasion Wheel" in Oblivion, with options for joking, coercion, admiration, and boasting respectively, each with different effects based on the person. What I found myself doing was playing my role and trying to compliment people, make jokes, and threaten people as and when I saw fit.
I realized that when it comes to role-playing a character, you're really limited by the character's actions and dialogue choices.
Take the infamous Nazeem. Why do so many people enjoy murdering this guy? Because he acts like an asshole, there's no good way to react other than to hit him, which often results in his death. Come on, I hate this guy too, but being a bit sass isn't worth dying for. He deserves a proper return. Now you can do this.
Likewise, say your character is more like a person. Maybe they're a kind old lady or a noble paladin. How do you make friends with your neighbors? Maybe a cheerful greeting, some small talk, or compliments on their gear? Maybe some townspeople helped you take down a dragon and you want to praise them for it? Now you can.
I kept the options generic, (Compliment) and (Insult) so that the player character could fill in their own responses. If you guys are interested, I may make an alternate version with a different written response topic in the future. Additionally, you are free to edit the dialog boxes in CK for your own use if you wish.

Finally, this is my first mod and I'm very happy with how it turned out! If any mod authors have any feedback please let me know as I'm still learning!

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
