About this mod Machine translation

Tired of reloading as multiple fans fight each other? After you accidentally touch them, the guards won't speak and keep attacking even if your weapon is sheathed? Just need everyone to calm down for five seconds? Give them chill pills. (Mod ported from Oldrim.)

This mod adds the Chill Pill spell to your game, accessible via console commands. It's basically a superpower, novice-level Harmony spell that lasts 5 seconds, doesn't cause a huge explosion, and works on absolutely anything up to level 1000 (if you have something similar, you're in your possession). You can use it as a lesser power (a power that can be used an unlimited number of times per day) or as a normal one-handed spell. It doesn't require any extra work on your part - it works on undead, daedra, and automatons without mind mastery, it doesn't require any magic, and it doesn't actually improve your illusion skills.

I made this mod mostly for myself because I like having multiple/modded minions, but Serana's explosions keep causing fights that can't be broken without reloading. And if I accidentally shoot a guard while trying to kill a dragon, the guard seems very uncomfortable with the concept of aiming a weapon at them, leaving me to just pay off my bounty. This spell calms everyone down long enough to start making sense. I thought I'd make it available in case anyone else thinks my little solution would be helpful.

It now comes with an optional, even more ridiculous version that includes a massive paralysis effect called "Naptime," for everyone who wants to see a Solitude remake. Or if you just want your fans to sit back and think about what they've been doing for a few seconds. In this version, the calming effect is extended to 10 seconds, so you still have a chance to talk to guards/etc. After they stand up again, before the effect wears off.

I don't believe in the idea; I got the concept from a random comment on the internet and then forgot about it, so I can't believe it yet.

Nothing has changed in the Oldrim version; I've finally started porting it.

Version 1.1

  • Now available in two flavors: the original Chill Pill, or an optional file containing Naptime spells.
  • NPCs will no longer complain when you hit with any of your spells.

Version 1.0

  • Introducing: Cold Pills. Calm everything down, everyone stop for five seconds.

Can't this be used to cheat?

certainly. If you use it to cheat the game, that's up to you; I'm just providing the means. I just think one should be able to make their minions stop fighting regardless of level, illusion mastery, type of minion, or current amount of mana. They shouldn't have fought in the first place.

Help! How do you get this via the console? I barely/never use this thing.

Press the ~ key (by default) to bring up the console. type:

Help "cooling pills"

This should display a list like this:

MGEF:(XX00182B)'Chill Pill'

Pre-order: (XX002D8F) 'Spell Tome: Chill Pill'

Pre-order: (XX001D91) 'Spell Tome: Chill Pill P'

SPEL:(XX000D64)'Chill Pill'

SPEL:(XX0012C7)'Chill Pill Power'

In this case, the two characters at position XX refer to the mod's position in the mod list. Use the following instructions to replace XX with these two characters.

If you want to use the spell as a power (using the z key, like shouting) then you can add it directly via:

player.addspell xx0012c7

Or you can get the spell and learn it just like you would any other spell using:

player.additem xx001d91 1

If you want to use it as a one-handed spellcaster, then:

player.addspell xx000d64

Either

player.additem xx002d8f 1

If you used the "additem" command, just look at your inventory for spellsheets and use them. For Naptime spells and powers, type "help naptime" and then use the relevant code to get the same spells as the original version.

Console commands are annoying and immersive. Why not use that spell in the game without those?

As far as I know, messing with this sort of thing is a good way to cause horrible mod conflicts. And I'm lazy …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
