About this mod Machine translation
This mod will make dash behave like it does in classic skyrim. You will only run a sprint while you hold down the sprint key, and if something interrupts it it will automatically resume.
Please read the description before using this MOD!
This model is ongoing. Please keep this in mind.
What's this?
This is a mode that simulates how sprinting works in classic Skyrim. I've been frustrated that sprint is now a switch and there isn't a problem-free solution. The most recent one is to stick with Sprint, but it causes CTD, script bloat, and it won't even resume sprint if it's interrupted. So I did my research and made this (very unusual) fix for the problem.
The MOD uses the AutoHotKey script to send keyboard events when needed. It will communicate with the game to see when it is necessary.
Before you ask:
This is a different type of script to use in games - it won't cause any script bloat or save game issues.
feature:
-Hold Splinter's key
-Resume sprinting after falling, moving sideways, slamming, or any action that interrupts it.
-Responsive and feels just like the original.
-Configurable INI file
-No dependencies or programs required, it works out of the box
Install:
- Download modules manually. Don't use the mod manager to download it.
- Place the contents of the file into Skyrim's main folder (where SkyrimSE.exe is located). Not in the data folder!
- From now if you want to launch the game, always start it with ClassicSprinting.exe. It will automatically start the SKSE loader, which will launch the game. (If SKSE does not exist, it will launch the game directly)
-MOD Organizer users must add the .exe as an executable file to launch it from MO.
Configuration:
The MOD comes with an .ini file which allows customization.
The most important setup is key to sprinting. By default, it is the Alt key. If you're using another one, you'll have to change it.
In the .ini file, find this line:
SprintButton="Alt"
and change it to your key according to the instructions above.
Please read the comments in the .ini file regarding additional settings. (Most users will not need to change these)
Current issues:
As the work of the Highways Department is still in progress, there are still some issues:
- Opening the menu during sprinting causes the script to trash the sprint button. This causes strange behavior in the menu. When you sprint, try not to open any menus.
- If you're exhausted but still holding the key, the stamina bar will flash. (minor problem)
-Mod may not work at all in some cases. If you encounter this problem, please report it.
Report a problem:
Please use the bugs section to report bugs. Don't report bugs in comments.
Please include your player's match, your position, and (if possible) your load order.
compatibility:
Generally speaking, it sticks with Sprint.
However, there may be some hidden incompatibilities. Especially mods that add custom playable races. Please report anything you find.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
