about

Do you like to play functional games? Aren't the loot randomized? Do you want your game to crash? Then, this mod is for you.

This mod is inspired by the Zelda randomizer and chaos mod. This mod is used to randomize Skyrim in four ways:

Items: Randomize some (but not all) of the loot in the game, you never know what you might find!

Graded NPCs: Randomize most enemies and city guards. The gangsters will be where the draugrs are supposed to be, the Falmers will take the place of guards, etc.

Enchantment: Randomizes the enchantment's power level and duration

Chaos Mode: Transforms the game around you, altering spawned NPCs and other world objects.

This mod is completely unaffected by in-game scripts. Additionally, randomization doesn't "bleed" between saves, meaning when you randomly save, your other games won't be affected!

Q&A

Q: How do I start randomization?

Answer: Start a new game. In the Alt Start cell should be the dwemer button. Press this button to complete the process.

Q: Is it possible to complete the game with randomization?

A: I'm actually not sure, I've done the first ~1 hour mission randomization and run it at base level. So...maybe?

Q: Why did you joke that this mod is unstable?

Answer: I can't stress this enough, but this mod is extremely unstable. It often results in CTD or infinite loading screens. While I'm not corrupt or completely broken, the possibility remains.

Q: How does it work? Why does the randomization project take so long?

Answer: This mod takes advantage of the existence of horizontal lists. Change the appearance of every item in every list. Papyrus is an inefficient programming language, and calling level lists and form lists often delays scripts.

About

Do you enjoy playing a functional game? Does it bother you that loot isn't more randomized? Do you want your game to crash more? Well, then this mod is for you.

This mod was inspired by Zelda randomizers & chaos mods. This mod functions to randomize Skyrim in 4 ways:

Items: Randomizes some (but not all) loot drops in the game, you never know what you might find!

Leveled NPCs: Randomizes most enemies & city guards. Bandits will spawn where draugr should be, Falmer in the place of guards, etc.

Enchantments: Randomizes the power level and duration of enchantments

Chaos mode: Alters the game around you, will change spawned NPC, and other world objects.

The mod functions completely off of in-game scripting. Furthermore, Randomizations will not 'bleed' between saves, this means when you randomize a save, your other playthroughs will not be affected!

Q & A

Q: How do I initiate randomization?

A: Begin a new game. Within the Alt Start cell should be a dwemer button. Press this to be taken through the process.

Q: Is it possible to complete the game with everything randomized?

A: I am not actually sure, I have played the first ~1hr-ish with everything randomized and it functioned at a base level. So... Maybe?

Q: Why do you joke about this mod being unstable?

A: I cannot stress this enough, but this mod is very very unstable. It often causes CTD or infinite loading screens. While I have not had it corrupt or crash a save entirely, the possibility lingers.

Q: How does it work? Why does it …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
