About this mod Machine translation

Why does the Psijic Order decide who should become the new Archmage? It should be the current Archmage's choice. Unfortunately for Winterhold, that's you.

This mod allows you to remove your position as Archmage by choosing another member of the Academy to take your title. You might ask anyone to take on this role, even an apprentice, although not everyone will accept. You can make your decision immediately or after a long tenure at the Leadership Academy. up to you. Make your choice wisely; once you've chosen your successor, there's no turning back.

▪ Once they become an Arch-Mage, all members of the Academy will receive new dialog options that allow you to discuss their interest in the role. Some people will accept it immediately, some may need some convincing, and some will say no.

▪The selected Archmage will put on his Archmage robe and receive the key. You can keep your settings.

▪The schedule for the new Arch-Mage will be revised.

▪ Many greetings that discuss storyline events but have nothing to do with your rank have been repurposed to check the status of the quest line, so they will still play after you drop the Archmage level.

▪The dialog box for the mission "Aftershock" has been edited to remove any reference to your military rank.

▪ If you are using Obscure's Winterhold Academy (v1.5 and above), your choice of Arch-Mage will select one of six variants of Arch-Mage's quarters. Additionally, their old rooms will be converted into guest rooms.

This module can be installed before you become an Arch-Mage or when you become an Arch-Mage. It is recommended to install Mod Organizer 2 or Vortex. All plug-ins are in ESP-FE format. Although it's technically possible to uninstall at any time, it's never recommended that you uninstall a mod after you've installed the game. If you are doing a very large mount order, "Choose your own Arch-Mage" may be marked as the main file.

Do your choices affect the story or gameplay?

Not currently. I'm open to ideas on simple ways to do this. I want to avoid being too broad.

Can I return to the position of Archmage if I wish?

No, you won't be able to. You gave up the role! You can't just ask for it.

Why are you allowing X to accept a position but not Y?

It's so much more fun to have certain characters say no! I picked them based on their personality, whether they would be a great archmage or a terrible person. I feel like most options would have boring archmages telling you no.

▪Notepad++ with Papyrus Integration is my preferred way of writing scripts.

▪ I wouldn't want to mod without using Mod Organizer 2's virtual file system to keep my workspace organized, and the backup/restore features to let me experiment wildly.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
