Performance-friendly and subtle presets for Marble Weather, based on "The Truth ENB" by phinix
Cathedral ENB
Created from phinix's The Truth ENB foundation, Cathedral's ENB is designed to be used with Cathedral Weather and Seasons and Lightweight Grass Overhaul so as not to disrupt the horizon stitching of the former, and the terrain/grass mix of the latter. By default this preset maintains close to the expected look of Cathedral Weather and is very lightweight in performance. However, with some minor adjustments, it can be modified to suit various visual preferences.
Install
- Download the latest version of ENB and copy the contents of the zip to the Skyrim Special Edition root directory (the directory where SkyrimSE.exe is located).
- Download the latest version of A Cathedralist's ENB and copy the contents of the zip to the same destination as step 1, overwriting some of the default ENB files.
- Download and install Cathedral Weather and Seasons and Lightweight Grass Overhaul (I recommend using Mod Organizer 2 for installation). Cathedral's ENB will work fine without these models, but they are integral to the preset's appearance.
- (Optional) Configure to your liking as shown in the next section, otherwise, you're done!
configuration
By default, Cathedral's ENB does not require any adjustments to produce the expected visual effects. However, if you wish to enable more ENB effects or make your game warmer, cooler, brighter, darker, etc., keep reading.
- Enter the game, open the console so that you don't move around while configuring things, press SHIFT + TAB to open the ENB GUI.
- To edit the brightness, contrast, saturation and color filters, open ENBEFFECT.FX named "Shader Parameters" in the right window. Here you have three options to color correct your game to your liking: HD6, AGCC input mixer, and ENB output effects. For making games warmer/cooler and general color adjustments, modifying the HD6 color balance is your best option. To make the game brighter/darker, modifying the ENB output brightness is the easiest way. To modify the contrast, I would first change the ENB output Gamma to see what effect it had, but there are a few options in ENBEFFECT.FX to do this. HD6 and AGCC generally have a more subtle impact on the image, as ENB output effects can easily be overdone.
- While ambient occlusion, detail shadows, cloud shadows, image-based lighting, subsurface scattering, and skylights are disabled by default, they are preconfigured to match the general aesthetic of Cathedral Weather. Note that effects like Thin Shadows and Image-Based Lighting will reduce the grass/terrain blending effect of Lightweight Grass Overhaul, and Volumetric Lights will break horizon seams in many cases, so enable these at your own risk.
- You can get sharpening, vignetting and film grain by enabling PostPastShader in the left pane under EFFECT.
Configure in the right pane under ENBEFFECTPOSTPASS.FX.
- If Bloom is too strong or weak, use Amounts under Bloom in the left pane of the ENB GUI and configure further under ENBBLOOM.FX in the right pane.
I encourage you to play around with different settings throughout ENB, or leave a comment asking how to achieve the effect you want, so don't be afraid to just ask! If you have a question about something you don't understand, other people probably do too.
performance
Even with default settings you will get unnecessary fps reduction, you may choose to regain some of the lost performance.
- If you want an overall performance boost, disable Bloom and Distant Shadows although my system only has about 1-2 frames.
- If the frame rate drops when observing the light carefully or observing multiple lights at the same time, please disable the complex particle light.
Keep in mind that running any ENB will have a performance impact and not a completely normal game. To return to vanilla performance, do not disable UseEffect in the ENB GUI, completely remove ENB.dll from the SSE root fol …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
