Made some minor adjustments to yevic1992's masterpiece Castle Strunmah.

Originally uploaded by yevic1992 in 2012, and perhaps a bit technically outdated, Castle Strunmah is still the prettiest player in Skyrim. I made some minor tweaks to Skyrim V and discovered on 10/21/18 that after packing the BSA folder into the scripts folder, the homepage worked in Special Edition. (In fact, families work without BSA files - most of the time).

I tested the mod with Creation Club Survival Mode. The interior of the house is "outdoors" with spectacular views outside the windows. I remember, Serena was wearing her hood indoors. This means the place will be chilly to freezing indoors. Maybe like some real castles. However, most rooms have fireplaces which do provide warmth.

At first I thought the bed was updated and relieved of fatigue. But then I didn't see it. I guess it's a survival mode option, sleeping outside doesn't refresh. I know. Think back to the movie "Platoon", Charlie Sheen is telling how they march all day long, go out on patrol or ambushes, and then go to bed. But you really don’t sleep. This seems to be accurate for a persistent combat setting, where Skyrim is just outside the city. Always be alert. But that applies to the inside of this home.

NOTE: Just before publishing, I made a test download of the mod files and reinstalled the mod. The bed is full of survival mode. It seems like sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. Maybe it's me?

Personally, I prefer cryo mode (not Frostfall, although that's great too) with realistic needs and illnesses, so the bed/fatigue thing will be avoided. I need hand warmers and eating/drinking animations!

I also have the Creation Club Adventurer's Backpack. I was surprised to see my L-Shaped Whiterun House mod and my Helgen House mod, clothes dresser with multiple Adventurer's Backpacks. I feel great! In my opinion, a backpack, bedding, tent, etc. should be enough to escape Helgen and randomly traverse Skyrim's castles and dungeons. In this model, I did notice at least one backpack in the hanger in the second bedroom - once. So not sure how old it was when they first opened. (Containers should not respawn.)

The home has the royal banner, on the chest of the stable (you have to find it by going around the left side of the building) and I just set up a set of imperial armor. I assume this home belonged to an Imperial officer who may have retired as it is a very nice home. I packed up some Imperial gear. What happens after that, Imperials or Stormcloaks, is up to you.

I tested Alternate Start Live Another Life, spawning in Dragonbridge's Inn. Step outside and you'll immediately see the house on the top of the hill near Forsworn Prospect. Getting home has been a little tricky, but there is a way. Perhaps the best thing to do is to turn off survival mode and fast travel, and then go from there and learn your way along the mountain path. (By the way, the views of Dragonbridge and Solitude from home are spectacular.)

You can enjoy testing even if you don't want to use the house. I've done this myself, probably with over a hundred families in the past. Quite fun; sometimes even more important than playing the game.

Updated photos may be posted soon. The current photos are from my original upload on Skyrim V.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
