Caroline
Caroline is a follower mod created in response to requests from Ennion3 users. Her facial expressions and fighting style are all customized to his personal taste.
The background story of Ennion3.
On Caroline's ninth birthday, her father gave her a child-sized bow and two target arrows. She was excited because she had been begging him to teach her to bow ever since she learned to speak. Her parents were both champion archers. Little Caroline was so confident in herself that she was sure that she would soon become as skilled with the bow as the horse and the par. Unfortunately, when she first tried to draw her new bow, she could barely move the strings. Her arms and back weren't strong enough. When her second attempt failed, tears welled up in her expressive eyes.
Pa showed a dark blue smile, and Pa stretched out his hand and patted her cheek. "Don't worry, little one," he told her lovingly. "It takes several years to become a skilled archer. You and my mother started training when we were nine years old. We didn't become good archers until we were twelve. But we didn't become skilled archers until the seventeenth summer. Like you, Caroline, we couldn't quite give in on the first day, but we kept practicing, and some more. We trained our muscles, our eyes."
Caroline smiled lovingly at a tall man, nodded affirmatively, and said to him sincerely: "Yes, Pa, I will practice! I will lift this bow every day to make my left arm strong. I will pull the string over and over again to make my right arm and back strong." She gave Pa a charming smile and asked: "When do you think I can shoot my first arrow?"
Pa winked at her and said, "That's up to you, little girl. You'll know when you're ready. But! You have to keep your eyes and muscles open. You have to learn to read the wind and compensate for it. You have to learn to estimate distances accurately, but don't worry about that part now, little one." Your mom and I will teach you how to do everything our way. Now you have to be strong enough to pull the string back to your ear and hold it for a slow three-shot count. When you can do that easily, we'll see about the idea of having you send some arrows to the target."
So, under the watchful eyes of her parents, little Caroline began learning how to "draw the bow all the way back to get the most power out of the shot." Gradually, she was able to do this. Much to the nine-year-old's chagrin, her first arrow was nowhere near successful. True to her heritage, she was determined to get better, so she didn't give up. Eventually, she was able to hit her target with regularity. Whenever she became proficient enough to hold five arrows close enough together that she could separate them with her palms, she would step back, away from the target and continue shooting from there. Year after year she has been making steady progress and working hard. As she grew taller, she held out three different bows. Each new bow was longer and stiffer than the previous one.
Just like Pa and Ma, by the time Caroline reaches her seventeenth summer, she has become an excellent archer. Like Pa, she can place an arrow wherever she wants to hit it, and can reach speeds of up to 400 steps. Like Ma, she can read the wind and make the necessary adjustments to get the arrow to land on the mark. On her own, she learned how to guide Pa or Ma on a rope and pull it across a moving target on a driving range.
One day, when Caroline was about to turn eighteen, Jarl Balgruuf and Housecarl Irellis went out from Whiterun to see her. They wanted to see if the girl named Caroline could actually shoot like everyone said she could. Word is that Caroline can shoot better than Ella the Huntress, and that's really saying something. Caroline hid her wob …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
