legend
In The Elder Scrolls III: Bloodmoon DLC, Skaal claims that the Draugr are cannibals cursed by the All-Maker who eternally hunt for human flesh, commonly known as the Eaters of Flesh.
This differs from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's account of Draugr, which claimed that dragon worship rituals granted eternal life in anticipation of the dragon's return, and made no mention of cannibalism.
When Solstheim was seen again in TES5: Dragonborn's release, it included a variant of Draugr that looked fundamentally different from other variants in Skyrim: it had a similar appearance to the one seen in Bloodmoon, and featured Skaal's blood-covered mouth. The legend of cannibalism. But this new Draugr variant (the Hulking Draugr) only appears in certain levels and is present in Solstheim and Skyrim.
To address this difference between TES3 and TES5's lore, I changed all of Solstheim's Draugr to resemble the more terrifying Hulking Draugr, with a bloodied mouth, noseless face, and blackened skin. The red eyes seen in Blood Moon have also been restored. I don't take the legend of Skaal at face value because I believe the story of the All-Maker's Curse developed as a moral enforcer for their culture. But the core of their lore, that the Draugr of Solstheim sustain themselves by preying on and cannibalizing humans, can now be seen in your game.
It's unclear how Solsheim's dragon worship became cannibalistic, but we do know that they were largely isolated from their mainland counterparts and developed their own culture. While waiting for the dragons to return, perhaps they were unaware of the immortality methods used on the continent and developed their own methods focused on the consumption of human flesh. Or maybe the cult of Solsheim believed their cannibalistic methods were superior to those of the mainland. We may never know the exact facts.
FAQ
How about the hulking Draugr seen in Skyrim? With this mod installed, every draugr has a Solstheim variant; for the Hulking Draugr, the vanilla version is used as the Solstheim variant, and non-Solstheim Hulking Draugr are encountered on the mainland. picture:

You replaced every teaser in Solsheim? I tried it! If I missed any, please let me know the FormID (the number that appears when you click it in the console). I replaced them with xEdit, which takes a lot of time in Creation Kit.

Installation: Normally. Use the mod manager, or unzip the files into the Data folder and enable the plugin.
If you've already been to one of Solsheim's crypts, some of them may not be replaced until the dungeon respawns.
Uninstall: Revert to previous save or use save cleaner. There aren't any scripts or quest edits, but some NPCs are persistent.
Compatibility: Very compatible. However, if another mod adds new draugrs for Solstheim, they won't be Solstheim variants unless you patch it. If the mod moves or edits an existing draugr, a merge patch will need to be made. I recommend loading this mod early in your load order so that if there are any conflicts, your other mods win.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
