Simple Camping for Skyrim
Campground is a simple camping mode that allows players to build a campfire and tent. The campsite is built in vanilla style using only existing items. It's designed to feel like a non-intrusive, optional extra to the game that won't be noticed when not in use. While camping modes already exist with extra features, I wanted to create something simple that didn't require adding extra trees, new items, spells or powers to the magic menu.
Campgrounds are designed for players who just want to camp on the go, or set up a more permanent campsite to use as a home or to store belongings.
feature
Click on the firewood in your inventory to create a campfire
Adds a cooking pot to your campfire (Cooking pots can now be purchased from the general item store and can be found around the world)
Purchase 4 different types of tents, each of which can be configured in 3 different ways
Place your tent anywhere in the open world except near/inside settlements
Select the tent function. There will be a sheet by default, but you can remove it and use your tent to cut firewood for your campfire, store items, and even exercise if it's a large tent.
Completely integrated with vanilla style - no single message or menu clutter
Placed items will automatically align with the terrain, or will be returned to your inventory with a warning if the terrain is too uneven/steep
Simple and lightweight, no background scripts
All the information you need to use this mod can be found in Skyrim's help menu, but if you want to know how it works before you install it, you can read on. Basic guidelines are also displayed when placing a campfire/tent for the first time. If you are having trouble using the mod, please read this before asking for help.
campfire
If you have 3 or more firewood in your inventory, you can click on it to build a campfire. If you don't have any firewood, put up a tent, configure it as "Crafting" and use a wooden chopping board to collect some. Choose between a large campfire (5 firewood) or a small campfire (3 firewood).
"Activating" your campfire will give you several options:
- Ignite/extinguish/clear
-Add a cooking pot
- Add map markers
Bonfires can be lit and extinguished using spells and menus.
Burning campfires will run out of fuel after 12 hours (large) or 8 hours (small) unless you have the "Infinite Bonfire" add-on installed, in which case they will burn until manually extinguished.
To add a cooking pot to a campfire, you must have a cooking pot in your inventory. These can be purchased from general merchandise merchants or found around the world. Cooking pots already exist as a messy item, and campgrounds just make them "takeable."
Map markers will only appear on the map when the game refreshes the world map. This may take a long time! To force the game to reload the map, save the game, then load the save.
Extinguished/burnt bonfires can safely remain in the world. They will continue smoking for 10-20 minutes. You can add more firewood to renew them before lighting them again. You can also clear them using the menu if you wish.
tent
If you have a tent in your inventory, you can click on it to place it in the world.
These types (all types already present in the game) are:
- Fur tent
- Cloth tent
- marquee (large fur tent)
- Imperial tent (big cloth tent)
Tents can be purchased from the general merchandise store. A fur tent can also be made on a sunbathing stand. Imperial tents must be purchased from the Quarter Master of the Empire or from the stall in the East Empire Company Warehouse.
"Activating" your tent will give you several options:
- Pack up and go
- Select function
The functionality chosen determines the furniture in the tent. A tent can only serve one function at a time. Here's a look at the various features, and a general idea of what you'll get (exact fu …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
