inspiration-
"High Resolution Dartwing" was one of the first mini-games I would install over the years! Why? , as it makes the biggest difference of any single texture upgrade! ! The main body of the vanilla dartwing material is only 64 x 64 pixels, and the wings are only 64 x 128 pixels. At that resolution the texture is more like what this little creature is meant to be, an orange or blue blue stick bug with hind wings?
Fast forward many years and we have new Skyrim (Se), better hardware, better modding tools (I even made mods) and a ton of talented modders making all kinds of high poly count, high resolution models and textures.
Compared to everything else, the blocky 150's Poly Dartwings are starting to look a little dated. Luck will lead Aviform to make the "Improved Dragonfly". A mod that replaces two vanilla dart wings with high quality, high polygonal ones. Nice texture for a small animal this size (without 8K dart wings)! For me, this is an instant download!
While looking for new mods to change up my game, I came across Kryptopyr's "Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul". A mod that adds a lot of new items to the game and improves alchemy a bit. I installed it and ran over to Arcadia's Cauldron to see what new stock she had......Short answer.......... 2 There were mangled arrow arteries on the counter.
It’s time to patch! I thought...of course I hope someone patches it! ? ! ? .........
Well, here we are... Fix CACO takes a few seconds trying to apply its texture to an Aviform mesh in xEdit, but not everyone wants or knows how to do it. If you're like me, I'd love to try to fix it myself, but ended up breaking several of my mods and wasting a lot of time reinstalling mods to get them to work like before.
Since I'm a professional caveman at Google, I wanted to work this out with my club so I can get back to chasing those fast critters.
Require-
Aviform Modified Dragonfly
Without it, your blue and orange darts will become vanilla (or whatever mod you equip them with), and new darts will lack textures. (This is a pretty neat mod, why wouldn't you want it?)
Complete Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul with Kryptopyr
Without it you would have no reason to download this mod as the new Dart Wings will not be added to your game so there is no replacement.
Install-
The order should not differ, there is no conflict between this mod and "Improved Dragonfly".
This mod is supposed to cover "a complete alchemy and cooking overhaul". (CACO is unlikely to appear in bsa}
"Improved Dragonfly" doesn't cover anything. (If it overwrites my mod, any conflicting files won't be the same)
If you're using a mod manager where installation order matters and you're afraid of breaking things. First install CACO following the instructions on the mods page and make sure it is compatible with your mod. This is a big mod that can do a lot of things! Than the installation ID, than mine. Both are just texture and mesh replacements.
uninstall-
Uncheck the box, view the file tree on the download page, and delete the files to free up SSD space.
Issues and Known Issues -
This is my first modification and my first time using CACO.
I'm not 100% satisfied with everything CACO does (a lot!). It will definitely add 8 new dragonflies, I've found them all and made sure they work in my current game. It contains textures and meshes that I'm not 100% sure were used in the game, some look like outdated copies that were never removed, or used by other mods if installed.
I've included placeholder (duplicate) textures, I'm not 100% sure about textures that won't work in the game. If I did something wrong, I did this so as not to overwhelm you with immersion.
If you find two different dragonflies that are exactly the same, there's a good chance I know that and haven't achieved that texture yet (you're s …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
