Butler (only one allowed)

The NPC is a unique level 80 character. It can follow you to store any items you want, or you can leave the house to look after you while you're gone. When following you, the Steward does not replace any followers you currently have, as it is not considered a follower (therefore, it does not have the usual follower orders). It is important to mention that a steward is not a follower, but a steward.

Existing butlers available:

  • Male Vampire/Human: Focus on melee combat, i.e. with a brawling brawl style (based on Sebas Tian from Dremora Butler's Overlord/Voice).
  • Spriggan/Skeleton/Boneman/Mistman: Act like the races they are supposed to be. Spriggan has the vanilla fighting behavior of spriggan, while Skeleton/Boneman is a brawler. Mistman is a spell caster (although it also does melee damage).

Recruit Butler

You can find scrolls to summon the Steward for sale at any of the Court Wizards (it may also appear as random loot). If you have trouble finding it and want to use the console, the name of the scroll is "Scroll of Conjure Butler".

After using scroll, the butler will appear near the player. Talk to him and tell him to follow you. At this point, the butler will follow the player and you can ask him to bring some items.

NOTE: If you don't talk to him and recruit him within the next 20 seconds, he will return to where he came from!

Choose a House for Butler

When he follows the player, talking to him always gives you the option to have him manage where the two of you are. Just enter the house you want him to stay in and select this option. Butler will then start sandboxing inside this house.

Note: I recommend you tell him to manage your house when you are near the area of the house you want him to move to, as this will be where the Butler will move.

Butler's auto-sort feature

When the Butler is not following the player (that is, it is managing a place), the player has two new options available:

Sort items: It will open your and Butler's inventories. In this case, every item you give to the steward is automatically assigned to the player's designated chest by placing the corresponding note. The current sorting process does the following: (i) Search if there are any containers with "Container Note - Same Items" that contain this item; (ii) Determine if any important keywords are attached to the item in order to select an appropriate container; (iii) Check how the item is classified in the game engine to select an appropriate container.

Write Notes: When this option is selected, the player will have 12 seconds to sit down, after which the writing animation will be performed and the note will be added to the player's inventory. These annotations are used to signal to the housekeeper that the container is to be stored, so you must place them in the container you want (multiple annotations can be placed in a container).

It is recommended to put at least "Container Note - Misc" in one container, since everything that will not be sorted will be thrown …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
