How MOD is done:
Adds the sword Brisingr to the game, including unique resources, crafting and training recipes and a quest to guide players through the crafting process. It starts with reading the cryptic note on/under the counter inside the "Warmaiden". This sword is designed to be a powerful late game sword (like in the books), if you can get it early it may be too powerful. In order to make this sword, you need to be at least 30 years old and possess the mysterious blacksmith Perk.
Future plans:
Improved sword model - I'm happy with the overall look, but some details need tweaking
Add a quest line to guide players through the process of gathering resources and crafting swords.
Additionally, there are still yet-to-be-defined parameters that limit the usability of swords, mostly for balance reasons.
Adds fire effect/enchantment whenever using Brisingr skill + making it drain current mana while active.
Walkthrough (also see the last part of the image):
Read the note that starts the quest at the corner of the counter inside "Wamedens" (the blacksmith's shop at the entrance to Viteren).
Collect the Brightsteel Ore in the Elder Blink (in order to get there, you need to play through the "Nature's Blessing" requirement, the one about restoring trees in Veteron). It should be right next to it.
Use the ore and 5 pieces of charcoal to craft a bright steel ingot at the smelter.
Craft the sword on the GEM (you don't need the Forge Blacksmith perk, but the Mystic Blacksmith perk, using at least 3 Steel Ingots, 3 Dragonfly Scales, 1 Flawless Sapphire, and 2 Leather Strips).
Use 1 dragon bone to sharpen the sword against any whetstone
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
