About this mod Machine translation

The dead emerge from the dirt of the Morthal swamps.

"Watch your step. The swamp will not give up her death."

With this mod, the swamps of Morthal will now be a dangerous place. If you get too close, monsters will emerge from the dirt. The more physical you are, the harder it is to escape. Can you master your own power?

New Bogmort enemies come in 16 variants (4 models x 4 textures)

When you're covered in dirt, there's a devastating cumulative effect

Ambush sounds scattered across the Hjaalmarch swamps

Bogmort Thrall followers created via ritual sacrifice

Newly rusted weapons and loach meat ingredients

To uncover Bogmort's secrets and learn how to create a Bogmort Thrall, go summon stones and find backpacks... but be ready for a fight. (The location is north-northwest of Morthal.)

FAQ

What... what are they? Read the in-game lore for more information/speculation. But essentially the bodies left in the swamps of Morthal decompose quickly, and their skeletons are then used as the cores of these sludgy beasts. They are related to the creatures in Elder Scrolls Online.

Spoiler: Show

What is the cumulative effect you are referring to? When you fight them, your attacks will be covered in dirt. As mud accumulates, your movement and attack speed are reduced. If too much mud accumulates on your body, it will be difficult to fight or escape.

If you start to get too muddy, try moving away from the swamp to let the mud fall off before continuing the fight.

Unweaponed Bogmorts will coat you with dirt every time they hit you. Bogmorts with *weapons* can only splash mud with a long-range spray attack.

Does Bogmorts align with players? Yes, within certain limits. High level players (>lv60) won't have much trouble with them. Very low level players (<lv5) should be able to avoid the swamp.

Does Bogmort Thrall count towards my minion limit? It depends on your animal minion limit, not your human minion limit. (Note that this is separate from Creation Club pet restrictions.)

I can't find my backpack?

Spoiler: Show

I accidentally sacrificed an NPC who had a quest item in their inventory. oops! Find the power box next to the backpack, which will automatically obtain any quest items from the sacrificed NPC.

Installation: Normally. Use the mod manager, or unzip the files into the Data folder and enable the plugin.

Uninstall: Revert to previous save or use save cleaner. The mod isn't messy, but like most mods there is some data stored in your save.

Compatibility: Very compatible. May conflict with mods that add structures near summoning stones or elsewhere in the swamp.

Requirements: Dragonborn DLC

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
