introduce:
This mod adds a new, usable, low-damage Blowgun to your game, complete with its own unique ammo that can be automatically equipped when the weapon is equipped. It also comes with its own unique sounds (see Sound Limitations Note).
If you don't have any Blow Darts, the weapon will automatically disarm, an intended feature that limits it to using only its own ammo.
The Blowgun does 0 damage, and the Dart does 1 damage (enough to cause a reaction against the enemy).
It fires silently, making it perfect for stealth builds, assassins, or anyone with alchemy and poison abilities.
The idea of this mod is to create a way to apply poison effects such as Frenzy, Calmness, Damage Stamina or Magic to enemies to create new ways to avoid fights or prepare differently for upcoming fights.
Poison Team:
I've also included a Poison Rag, which is a craftable MISC item that, when activated, will clean out any blowpipes in your inventory and remove any currently applied poison. This is useful when you're using mods to increase poison usage, as you can't reapply new poisons until the current one expires. Using the Poison Wipe will remove any blowgun you currently have and replace it with the default blowgun.
The unfortunate side effect is that it will remove Blowgun from your favorites.
Install:
Just install using the mod manager of your choice.
Optional files:
It is always necessary to install the MAIN file first.
I've included some optional files that don't use another ESP slot, they just overwrite what's in the main file.
- Belt fasteners -
If you use the XPMS32 skeleton with the BFQ option, you need to download this optional file and have it overlay the MAIN file arrow grid.
If you don't do this, you'll end up floating the quiver to the side.
- Faster DARTS (ABT value) -
This replaces the MAIN file ESP, adding some faster values to the dart projectiles. These values are based on those used in the Arrow and Bolt Tweaks mods.
You don't need ABT to use it, it's purely optional.
-Performance Texture-
The main file uses a mix of 4K and 2K textures, with half-size normals.
For those who want it, Performance Textures will reduce all texture sizes in half.
- Silent Reload -
Due to game limitations I cannot add a unique reload sound, so this mod will use the same reload sound as any other crossbow.
This optional file replaces the vanilla reload wav file with a silent wav.
It will remove the reload sound for the blowgun, but it will also remove all other crossbows.
Recommended MODS:
This mod works fine on its own, but I personally use it with two other other mods.
realistic poison dosage
This mod increases the amount of usage you get from the weapon when you cast poison. I ported it to Skyrim SE (open permissions)
I also recommend using mods that increase virulence.
The mod I used is Deadlier Poison REMASTERED, unfortunately this was made for Skyrim LE and doesn't have an open license, you can try converting it yourself by getting it from here! Or look around for similar SE mods.
notes:
The Blowgun is of the Crossbow weapon type and will benefit from the Archery perk.
Due to game restrictions, it will be forced to use crossbow animations. These look fine in first person, but look a little weird in third person since you're shooting from the shoulder.
Another unfortunate side effect is that I can't apply the unique reload sound, so it will continue to use the vanilla reload sound, just like any other crossbow.
I've included an optional file that replaces the sound with a silent wav file, but this will work on all crossbows.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
