About this mod Machine translation
This mod uses an algorithm that can simulate HRTF, allowing full 3D surround sound with just a pair of regular headphones or earphones.
HRTF (Head Related Transfer Function) refers to the way the curvature of one's ears is used to localize sounds in 3D space.
This mod uses algorithms that can simulate this action, achieving full 3D surround sound with just a pair of regular headphones or earphones.
The audio produced is called binaural.
Previously uploaded but not updated with the latest version of HRTF:
Restored support for Doppler effect
Fixed spatialization sound being too loud
Fixed stereo source is too quiet
Fixed volume curve calculation from some sources (is the inverse square law, but must be reversed)
Added missing reverb factor calculation
Implemented different spatial data transmission methods from X3DAudio to XAudio
Implemented a new transfer method that only uses the result of the last call to X3DAudio
This new version now works perfectly with Skyrim SE and has about 30% performance improvement.
Install
Don't use any mod manager to install it! Copy the files manually.
Extract the files to the Skyrim SE installation directory
Launch the game and enjoy!
You must disable your headphones or any other surround sound capabilities of your sound card.
If you use headphones you will get the effect you want!
If you have surround sound headphones (5.1/7.1), be sure to disable any surround sound processing.
Two channels (stereo) are enough for this module to work.
Any further surround processing will distort the effect.
You may need to download and install Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 Update 3 (x64 version).
uninstall
Delete files from the SSE installation directory.

HRTF (Head Related Transfer Functions) refers to the way that the curvature of one's ears are used to localize sound in 3D space.
This mod uses algorithms that can simulate this action, allowing for full 3D surround sound with just a normal pair of earphones or headphones.
The resulting audio is referred to as binaural.
This has been uploaded before, but it hasn't been updated with the latest version of HRTF which:

Added missing reverb factor calculation
Implemented different ways of transport of spatial data from X3DAudio to XAudio
Implemented a new way of transport which simply uses result from the last call to X3DAudio
This new version works perfectly now for Skyrim SE, plus has about 30% performance increase.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
