Better magic progression adds a more realistic progression system to all magic schools.

Just using a spell is enough to make your magic more powerful. You have no goals.

The more the spell costs, the more your character casts.

No matter which magic school you use, your magic total will increase.

As you use magic, your spells become more powerful and cost less magic to use.

Each magic school has its own advancement. Using Restoration Magic only makes Restoration Magic more powerful.

There is no hardcoded cap in this mod. Much stronger than vanilla Skyrim allows.

Because this mod quickly unbalanced the game and required the addition of magic as the character levels up, which is no longer needed, the starting spell stats have been changed. You will become a realistic newbie in spelling. Your spells have almost no effect.

There is a configuration menu that can be accessed at any time by casting the Better Magic Process Configuration method. It should be under the Alteration category in the Magic menu

Mod Compatibility

There should be no outright conflicts with other mods, but if you install multiple mods that affect spell damage and magic cost, the results may be strange.

For the No Requirements version, spells added by other mods will feel the effects of this mod. In other words, they should become stronger, and the magic required to cast them should be reduced, but spells added by other mods have no effect on any progression added by this mod. With this version, only vanilla spells will adapt to progression.

For the SKSE version, all spells added by the mod should work with this mod.

Of course, there are no guarantees.

Bugs/Unpopular Features

Spells that can be cast continuously, such as Flames and Sparks, will only advance exp once, no matter how long they are cast.

Use the SKSE library to make this mod compatible with other mods. Currently waiting for SKSE to be updated to the latest Skyrim Special Edition version.

Install

There are two versions of this mod: No Requirements version and SKSE version.

The No Requirements version will run as-is. It does not require other mods to run.

The SKSE version requires the Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) mod.

Both versions work with Mod Manager.

To install manually, download the latest version of the mod in the Files section. Unzip the downloaded .zip and place the contents of the resulting folder into the Data folder within your Skyrim installation folder.

(Applicable to version 1.1+ users)

In-game, launch the Better Magical Progression configuration menu by casting the Better Magical Progression Configuration spell. This spell should be in your Alteration spell category.

Select the "Disable" option and confirm your choice.

Then, save your game. You can then use NMM to uninstall the mod, or if it was installed manually, simply delete the BetterMagicalProgression.esp file in the Skyrim/Data folder and the BetterMagicks.pex file in Skyrim/Data/scripts.

(Applicable to version 1.0 users)

Load your save file. Press the tilde/grave key (`) to enter the console. Type these lines into the console one line at a time.

player.setav“DestructionMod”0

player.setav“DestructionPowerMod”0

Do this for every magic school, instead of destroy and restore,

Changes, curses and fantasies.

After typing 10 lines, press the tilde/grave key to close the console.

Now make sure your spells are back to normal. Save your game and proceed to remove the mod by deleting the file or using NMM, depending on how you installed the mod.

Follow the uninstall instructions above.

After uninstalling the previous version, launch the game and load the save file. Just save and exit the game.

Now you are ready to install the latest version.
