About this mod Machine translation

Add alarm clocks in major cities.

If you are using version 1.2.1 or earlier, it is highly recommended to update to the latest version (1.2.4). It fixes some NavMesh-related issues that could cause quests to break and NPCs to get stuck.

describe

Ever wonder why the game's official trailer shows us a ringing alarm bell when a dragon attacks, but there's no such thing in the game? This mod fixes that and adds those bells. In the event of a dragon attack, guards will ring doorbells to alert citizens.

How it works:

Mod sets clocks in major cities. There are guards associated with the doorbell; if they notice a dragon, they will rush to the bell and ring it until the battle is over. They do this automatically. If the player activates the bell outside of combat, they will also deactivate it. Citizens and other guards also react to the sound of the bell and act accordingly. Guards will disperse their weapons, looking for enemies, while citizens will flee.

Problems/Limitations:

Sometimes the guards were too lazy to notice the fighting, or wandered too far away to ring the bell until much later.

The bell is being played as a "tick". This means they will ring when no one is ringing. It will stay that way unless I figure out how to animate it properly.

Can be annoying in longer fights. (If it feels the same, use a volume-reducing plug-in.)

When the bell rings, citizens will flee their homes, but to be safe I recommend using it with "For Your Own Life" or other similar modules. These mods should be prioritized in emergencies.

The guard will not turn off the bell immediately, there will be a slight delay between killing the last enemy and the bell actually turning off. However, I've tried my best to minimize it.

Sometimes (due to bugs or conflicts). The guard may be stuck. I've been improving the Navmesh to minimize this issue, but it can still happen. Usually, it fixes itself after a few seconds. If it's still ringing during this time, you can disable it at any time.

Install:

Install with your favorite mod manager (recommended). You can select compatibility patches using the installer.

Uninstall:

First: Make sure the ringer isn’t ringing! This is the most important thing!

If you still have problems, do the following: Leave town (don't go in, leave town!). If you use Open Cities Skyrim, go even further. Then open the console and type the following commands: StopQuest _VERM_BoS_BellControlQuest and StopQuest _VERM_BoS_EnemyDetectQuest. Disable .esp and you shouldn't have any problems anymore.

compatibility:

Should be compatible with any mod that won't be placed in the same location as my mod.

The bell tower in Solitude can be moved to a different location using a plugin.

Open Cities Skyrim - compatible patch by Arthmoor.

Dawn of Skyrim - Compatibility patch for Director's Cut version. Need backup loneliness plug-in!

Immersive Citizens - Shurah's AI Overhaul - Compatibility patch available. Loading order is important, be sure to follow it.

Loading order:

If using Open Cities Skyrim, please load the compatibility patch last.

If using any version of JKs Skyrim, please load the compatibility patch last.

If using the Skyrim Dawn original set, please load the compatibility patch last.

If using Skyrim Director's Cut's Dawn, make sure you also have the Alternate Solitude plugin installed. Load my mods and DoS first, then patches and plugins.

If using a size reduction plugin, load it after the main file.

If using Immersive Citizens, please load my mod first and then Immersive Citizens. This is very important! Then finally load the patch.

If using Immersive Citizens and Open Cities Skyrim together, please follow the following loading sequence:

Bells of Skyrim.esp

Open CitySkyrim.esp

Immersive Citizenship - AI Overhaul.esp

Immersive Citizenship-OCS patch.esp

Clock of Skyrim-OCS + ICAIO Patch.esp

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
