Belethor's Lucky Coin

Come to General Goods in Belethor and check out the lucky coin that started it all! Years ago, Belethor arrived in Skyrim hoping to establish a trading business. As he walked through Riverwood, he saw plumes of smoke rising in the distance - Whitrun, one of Skyrim's largest towns, was burning! It turns out that a drunken guard knocked down a candle and the fire quickly got out of control. Half of Whiterun was on fire.

Belethor immediately walked toward Riverwood's lumber mill. There he found the factory owner busy at work and unaware of the disaster unfolding in the largest nearby town. Meanwhile, Geldur, the factory owner's young daughter, is playing in the mud. "Little girl, why don't you play with this while I'm talking to your father?" Belethor threw a gold coin to Gerdur. The little girl was very excited. "Dad! This stranger gave me this coin to play with!" The factory owner was very interested. "How can I help you, stranger, on this beautiful day?"

"I want to buy all the wood you have here, friend," said Belesau. "I have no coins with me now, but I will have my servants fetch gold coins for me later, and you will be adequately rewarded."

Normally, the factory owner wants to be paid before he delivers the goods, like any sensible person. But the man wanted all the wood...and it was worth a lot. "He just threw a gold coin at Gerdur as if it was nothing... This man is dirty! I can trust him." he thought. "Done! My friend, all my stock is yours!" The factory owner did not realize that Belethor's entire fortune was the gold coins he gave to the little girl.

A few hours after the fire at Whiterun was extinguished, every family, rich and poor, sent to Riverwood to buy timber to rebuild their estates. There, they discover that Belethor has hoarded all of Riverwood's lumber and that the price has increased. Belethor made a lot of money and was able to easily repay the original purchase of wood. Belethor's maneuvers humbled the factory owner. "What else do you need from me, sir? Just ask!"

Belethor said, "Well, if you don't mind, I'd like to buy that coin back. It's a lucky coin and I wish to keep it."

describe:

This mod adds Lucky Coin to Belethor's General Goods, you can read a brief description of it in the game.

I'm sorry to say that the visuals of the coins are a bit lackluster, as with all my other mods. It looks much better in Creation Kit. I may come back in the near future to improve the presentation.

compatibility:

This is almost guaranteed to conflict with any mod that overhauls the interior of Belethor's General Goods.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
