Are there some doors in Whiterun that make you want to kick them down? This door changer will make you want to use knobs
I love everything about Shuttr3's Noble Skyrim Mod HD 2K except for one little thing: the tavern door and some of the houses in Whiterun have these really weird floral patterns. It drives me crazy because they're like hubcaps for a horse; they just don't belong
So while hopping around I came across some really awesome door mods by hype1 and I said to myself "Self, since you're using JK's AIO with Noble Skyrim you should make some Whiterun doors that you like."
So I hopped into the Gimp and had a couple Coca-Cola and a pack of pretzels and the door was good. Honestly, I think it turned out great! This door is based on the real heavy wooden doors used in medieval Europe. These have a lot of large bolts, rivets, or wooden nails that glue the reinforcement plate to the door. But they don't sacrifice aesthetics either; they often feature engravings or illustrations, or both. This idea is my foundation. I wanted it to be clean and simple and blend in with all the other mods without looking out of place.
I created the diffuse and normal maps using the default Skyrim SE nifs and saved them in BC3 format. No issues with ILS and CTD due to nifs modification or wrong texture compression format. And, with a little magic as normal, it actually wraps the default nif, giving you an honest 3D look. Finally, the door color blends seamlessly with Noble Skyrim.
In the future I might make a similar door with default colors and tints to use with Retex Mods like JK's AIO and Pfuscher/Zerwass stuff, if interested keep track of this mod.
enjoy your meal!

I like everything about Noble Skyrim Mod HD 2K by Shuttr3 except for one small thing: the doors to the Taverns and some of the houses in Whiterun have these really weird flower motifs. It drives me nuts because they’re like a hub caps on a horse; they just don’t belong.
So whilst bopping around the I came across some really awesome door mods by hype1, and I said to myself; "Self, since you’re using JK’s AIO along with Noble Skyrim you should make some Whiterun doors you like".
So I jumped into Gimp, and a few Run-n-Cokes and a bag of pretzels later, the door was done. I think it turned out well, to be honest! The door is based on real heavy wooden doors used in medieval Europe. These have lots of big bolts, rivets or wooden pegs that bond reinforcement panels to the doors. But they don’t sacrifice aesthetics either; they usually have carvings or insets, or both. That idea is what I based my door on. I wanted it to be clean and simple, and able to blend with every other mod out there without looking out-of-place.
I created the diffuse and normal maps using the default Skyrim SE nif, and saved them in BC3 format. There are no problems with ILS and CTD due to nifs modifications or wrong texture compression format. And, with a little magic in the normal, it actually wraps around the default nif for an honest 3D look. And finally, the door's colors blend seamlessly with Noble Skyrim.
I’ll probably make a similar door with the default colors and tones for use with retex mods like JK’s AIO and stuff by Pfuscher/Zerwass at a later date, so track this mod if you’re interested in that.
Enjoy!

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
