Automatic Unequip custom follower support
The Automatic Unequip Shield Back to Back by 7 StarC is a very easy to use and lightweight solution for those who don't want to use double sheaths.
Support follower list (I am willing to accept user requests):
All followers that are members of WIFollowerCommentFaction (such as Inigo)
Vilja in the Sky written by Emma
Inigo SmartBlueCat
"West" Kate. By Kasprutz and HelloSanta (by (B)Destiny)
Sophia - Funny Full Voice Entourage John Jarvis and Kristen Slugman
Overview of features brought by the original module:
-Wear your favorite shield on your back
- Distinguish between thumbs up and thumbs down shields
-Only the favorite shield is automatic, unequipped, worn on the back, or stored when the weapon is sheathed.
- Shields on the back (or stored away) are automatically equipped before the weapon is drawn.
- Optional register for weapon/shield combinations, so when the registered weapon is drawn, the registered shield will also be equipped
-Torch equipment/explicit support-Shield game mechanics unchanged
-Automatic - clear/equip routine without delay, or double draw or draw sword ring effects
-Works with any skeleton and armor (no extra slots required)
-Supports 1 to 10 followers via dialogue menu
-Only event-triggered scripts (no polling scripts!)
- Fully reusable for PCs and followers via notes in the book menu
- pieced together in a table
-optional .esl-version
The purpose of this module is to bring these capabilities to other functions.
Install
- Install the Auto Unequip Shield Back to Back by 7 StarC (and read its description page)
- Download this module
- Must be placed after your follower mod and original mod.
- If you want to use multiple follower compatibility fixes, please open the plugin in TESVEdit and merge the edits manually.
- That’s all!
How to use:
- Give your hired followers a shield
- Use the dialog theme: "You don't need your shield now" (only displayed if your follower has a shield equipped)
- To stop support, use the dialog theme: Grab your shield.
- That’s all!
If all goes well, your minion will have its back turned to his shield when he stops fighting.
When you prepare your weapon for combat, your minion (vanilla or custom) will not grab his shield, but when combat begins, it will be equipped and used as normal.
That's how the original mod worked, so this one does too.
FAQ:
Don't my minions always have shields?
That's because follower AI is not affected by modules. The shield on the back is only visible when equipped by the follower AI. So, the follower still does things his way. Meaning, if you have an Archer minion, he will use his bow, not the shield equipped to him. The Claymore follower will prefer the 2H weapon before using the 1H weapon and the shield given to him (thanks to 7 StARC for the explanation).
What would I do if I wanted to use XXX and Inigo together?
You need to use plugins specifically for your followers, inigo is great and works with them.
What would I do if I wanted to use XXX and YYY to be together?
You need to open the plugin in TESVEdit and merge edits manually unless your follower is a member of WIFollowerCommentFaction (like GreatInigo)
Can I add WIFollowerCommentFaction to my followers? ?
A - No, if the author of the mod didn't use this faction, he certainly had a good reason.
I don't know how to do it, can you do it?
A-Yes I can, but I'm not always at home, maybe if I wasn't lazy I would post a tutorial
Post your tutorial lazy boy! ?
A-Maybe, maybe not, ask nicely ;)
You killed my game! butt*
Answer - No it can't, if you don't have a backup it's your fault (valid for all mods).
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
