This mod is a replacer and therefore affects every cape and cape of the mod you choose.
Depending on your hardware, modules, configuration it may severely impact your FPS
As well as the number of NPCs in the loading cell wearing physical clothing.
Some may have no noticeable impact on their performance. it depends.
HDT-SMP is still an alpha software and there are probably many performance fixes left.
-------------------------------------------------- ------------------
Requirements and installation
Install SKSE64
Install HDT SSE Framework - Optionally install the SKSE64 fix from this page
Install HDT-SMP SSE
Install the required mods for your required SMP patches
Download major FOMOD or individual patches of your choice using NMM/MO2/Vortex; manual installation not supported
Install with your mod manager; override or overwrite all
If you haven't installed SMP yet and need help, you can watch Tooneyman's video:
I will get no further support in terms of installing HDT-SMP.
Be sure to check out Tooneyman's Resplendent Armor and Ports of Greatsword SE!
Notes/known issues
- Dragon Priest Cloak from Skyrim Cloak has no physics applied.
- Some clipping issues are with certain armors. It can be improved, but it will probably never be perfect.
- HDT-SMP itself has a bug in its current version that causes abnormal (beyond normal for this mode) FPS drops; replacing cells should prevent any mesh from becoming a troublemaker. I'm not the author of HDT-SMP so there's nothing I can do about it, we just have to wait for HDT-SMP updates.
Possible to-do items
- Made arm/leg collision work properly
- Improved flow movement to make certain types of cloaks more unique
- Complete patch to fix issues with the original mod.
Let me know if there are any real breakdowns, but no massive support is promised.
There will definitely be improvements, but treat it as what it is now...

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
