Of course, there are other Winterhold mods, but I didn't like any of the ones I looked at. Why add more USELESS RUINS??? We have actually restored the city! While "The Great City of Winterhold" excels at one thing: evoking the vast past grandeur of a once powerful and famous city-state.
I've been working on this mod for several years now (at least 4, maybe 6) on and off, and have actually scrapped it 3 times and started over. Finally decided to research some actual history of Winterhold (I found it really interesting!) and incorporate some of it into the mod... somehow. This is the future.
Anywho, I decided I better go ahead and post this, or maybe other Winterhold mods will draw attention to it... like that one... eponymous "Winterhold Restored"... stole my name... just happened to post it first. I'll give him that, but this mod does look cool and does a lot more than mine. No, I'm not jealous at all, lol *takes a moment to get angry*
immediately:
- Convert dilapidated houses into shops-residences and customize voiced merchants
- New custom logo!
- A protective stone wall surrounding it to protect against cold winds!
- The player’s cabin, Snowstone Lodge, is like a mage’s home
- Stable with 4 horses (currently free, but will make that person a horse dealer in the future)
- CW and any other markers in destroyed houses have been removed
- Adapt the Navmeshes around the new build, fully test and finalize
- Completely zone out new interiors for followers
- Several skulls, boulders, snow, dead trees, etc. are disabled
Player cabin key location:
In the safe by the front door
compatibility:
- Funny NPC - Yes, that man is sitting on the bench with his horse Frances
- "Winterhold Rebuilt" by Lord Quaxe - Probably not, as he does a lot of the same things
- Winterhold by JK - Part - He did not restore the destroyed houses but did add to the ruins
- Big cities - Small towns - No, a lot of resources put into the same area
A patch is needed to remove all mod's Winterhold changes => in the future
- Winterhold Rebuilt (another one) - No, does a lot of the same things
Anyone else I don't know about.
question:
Some random CTDs can be obtained on the lower level of the player's cabin near the crafting table. I have no idea why or how to fix it.
integral:
New conversations and voices - Anduniel (Anna Castiglioni)
Modders resources:
Blary
Oaristys
Lilith
Elianora
Runspect
InsanitySorrow
Jokerine
Shrike - Canvas mesh and normals
melt in your mouth
TF – Staff Production Table
Anna Castiglioni - Some textures: bedding (with Runspect), pillows, canvas, carpet

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
