About this mod Machine translation
This mod replaces most items used in the weapon and armor improvement system.
What it can do:
This mod replaces most of the items used in the weapon and armor improvement system, rendering it pointless.
illustrate:
The old system required ingots matching the associated blacksmith perk to improve/repair/complete the item in question. The new system uses a standard set of items that are more in line with the blacksmithing tutorial, ie: "let's improve the fit a bit". and "Now let's get the upper hand on it."
Honing Oil: An item almost universally used in weapons making to prevent the huge whetstones from burning/crushing the blades. Bottles of honing oil can be purchased from the blacksmith (if available), or 2 bottles can be refined from the smelter using the 5 dwarf-crafted oils.
Grinding Compound: A paste used to supplement honing oil when sharpening the business end of glass, ebony or stahlrim blades/hammers/maces. The paste is also used to reshape and finish abrasive armor plates that feature said material. If you have abrasives, you can buy them from the blacksmith, or you can craft 5 bowls at the smelter with 1 troll grease, 1 clay, and 1 diamond.
Leather Strips: Used to improve armor, grip and decoration on long handles, and to help better secure the limbs to the riser of the bow or crossbow. Sometimes you will also see ingots used to strengthen risers.
Fur Panels: Popular for improving the fit and security of armor through padding.
Leather: Used to fill gaps in armor and complete decorative work.
Some incredible, ethereal weapons and armor have yet to be touched.
Install:
Install via your favorite module manager or unzip and paste into your data directory.
This mod changes the blacksmith's MISC inventory level list, so if you have another mod that modifies that list, you should use the obsolete patch.
This mod is esp but will be loaded in esl space so it won't count against the plugin limit.
compatibility:
Not compatible with other mods that modify weapon or armor tempering recipes. Confirmed compatibility with Ars Metallica. Compatible with Perk Overhaul - This mod will not touch the perk tree.
This mod modifies some USSEP patched tempering recipes, thus requiring it as a master.
This mod requires Campfire as the main character because the fur board is defined there.
The main file only covers the vanilla game. Any modded item will display its default tempering recipe. Modified vanilla items (such as PFA or "unique unique items") should be fine unless the mod changes the tempering recipe. Patches for Immersive Weapons, Immersive Armor, Heavy Armor SSE, Range Bow, Guard's Armor Replacer, Killer Weapon Expansion and Byzantine Imperial Troopers are available in the optional files section. All patches require the main file and associated mods as the main file.
You can ask for additional patches to be added in the comments, but I don't have much time these days and it probably won't happen.
Permissions:
This mod is exclusive to PC. It may not be ported to other platforms or websites.

WHAT IT DOES:
This mod replaces most of the items used in the weapon and armor improvement system to make it a little less nonsensical.
EXPLANATION:
The old system required an ingot in line with the relevant smithing perk to improve/recondition/finish the item in question. The new system uses a standard set of items more in line with the smithing tutorial, ie: "Let's improve the fit a bit." and "Now let's put an edge on it.".

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
