About this mod Machine translation

A simple change to the way training works makes it more immersive and less annoying.

For my own past drills, I've been just ignoring the trainers, and I bet I'm not the only one.

Why?

In short, the original design of Skyrim's trainer mechanic was just... weird?

It encourages you to micromanage leveling and frequently bring a truckload of gold to check on your trainer.

So what does this mod do?

In the same way that other mods replace skill manuals, this simple mod adds a skill increase rate bonus to the trainer.

Namely, now when you train with a trainer, in addition to gaining skill points, you will also receive buffs that last for 5 game days or 6 hours in real time. This buff will grant you a 10 skill bonus (using the same skill you trained on), as well as three times the skill improvement rate.

The purpose of this mod is to make the trainer very rewarding and worth the trip, but not annoying and you won't have to remember how many times you've trained that level or intentionally stop training to get the most benefit. It's also more immersive, as it mimics how one would regularly visit a tutor for lessons and then go home alone to practice.

Recommended modules:

-Mods that reduce the speed of skill progression like Skyrim Unlocker

-Mods to adjust training cost and/or number of training sessions per level

Install:

Like anything else, download and activate.

uninstall:

Open the console and enter stopQuest AlternateTrainingQuest

Save and exit

Deactivate and delete mods using your Mod Manager

However, as with any mod, even changing the order of esps may break your game, so uninstalling is not recommended

For my own past playthrough, I've always just plain ignore trainers, and I bet I'm not the only one.

Why?

Simply put, Skyrim's original design of the trainer mechanic is just... weird?

It encourages micromanaging your leveling, and often carrying a truck load of gold to see your trainers.

So what does this mod do?

In the same line as how my other mod Alternate Skillbooks works, This simple mod adds a skill increase rate bonus to trainers.

i.e. Now when you train at a trainer, besides for a skill point gain, you'll also gain a buff that persists for 5 game days, or 6 hours real time. This buff will grant you 10 skill bonus (in the same skill you trained) as well as three times the skill increase rate.

The aim of this mod is to make trainers very rewarding and worthwhile to visit, but not annoying, you won't have to remember how many times you trained this level or purposely stop leveling to get the most benefit. It's also more immersive as it mimic how a person would regularly visit a mentor to take lessons, then go home to practice on their own.

Recommended mod:

  • Mods that slow down the skill increase rate like Skyrim Uncapper
  • Mods that adjust the cost of training and/or number of training per level

Installation:

Like any other, download and activate.

Uninstall:

Open console, enter stopQuest AlternateTrainingQuest

Save and quit

Deactivate and remove mod with your mod manager

However, as with any mod, even changing the order of your esps can potentially break your game, thus don't recommanding uninstall

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
