Alternate start - live another life

Pain and despair have plagued you your entire life. Just when you think it can't get any worse, you're arrested and thrown into a dungeon. Your trial was supposed to be weeks ago, only no one came to pick you up. It’s been so long since you’ve seen daylight that you don’t know what month it is anymore. The dungeon is cold and damp, and to make matters worse, you're running out of food. At least you have a leak in the wall. It seems you have been forgotten and will soon rot and die. Eight people abandoned you! Or...them?

"Live Another Life" offers an alternative way to start the game for those who don't want to watch the lengthy intro sequence in Helgen. You will have the opportunity to choose your race and then choose a new life for your character. There will be a variety of options. What you choose will have a lasting impact, so choose carefully or God may abandon you again!

Additionally, additional support is provided to enable you to extend LiveAnyLife with your own start.

Installation requirements

Sky Special Edition 1.5.39 or higher. Using earlier versions of the game will cause CTD and other issues. Just don't do this.

The unofficial Skyrim Special Edition patch is highly recommended.

You need to turn on subtitles to see the text that starts the task.

Also, download and use Fuz Ro D-Oh-Quiet Sound to only see subtitles on those NPCs that have no sound. This requires SKSE 64.

Do not unzip the contents of the BSA file into the data folder as a loose file, or have the MOD Manager perform an equivalent function on the contents of the file. Doing so will cause things to load in the wrong order and break the game. Skyrim intends to load BSA at the same time as ESM/ESP files. Avoid this question and we will not provide support. If you insist on going against this advice, you won't get any support because you'll create problems because of it.

Install-Wrye Bash Bain

Place the archive file into the SkyRIM Mods\Bash Installers folder and install as usual.

Make sure the mod is active in the Wrye Bash MODS tab.

Installation - Mod Manager

Use the "Download & Manager" button on SkyRIM's LiveOtherLife page. The installer should take care of things from there.

Or add to NMM manually via the "AddFile" dialog.

Then just make sure NMM has the mod activated.

Place Another Life (especially Another Life) (especially Another Start) - Another Life (Life.bsa), Another Life (InterternalStart) - Experience Another Life (Texttures.bsa) and Alternate Start -

Activate the module using whatever management tool works for you.

Uninstall "New Life"

Due to the nature of SkyRIM mods, especially those added with scripts, it is strongly encouraged to attempt to uninstall the mod from your active game. Anything more than a pure mesh or texture override risks leaving permanent changes that you probably don't want. This is not something a model can correct. This is the way Bethesda designs its games. No support will be provided for anyone who uninstalls this mode from an active game and continues saving.

Nonetheless, if you insist on doing this, you must adhere to the following points:

First thing. You need to make sure the main task is started before you can uninstall this module. The "Live Another Life" quest must be marked as completed and you must list "Before the Storm" in your journal. Uninstalling before this will break the main mission as well as the civil war.

Of course, if you start using a farmhouse, clean out your stuff first, because if you don't, you'll lose it all.

Clean out your stuff from any other starting location containers you may be using, including any that were part of the vanilla game, as they will no longer be safe for storage!

Once done, uninstall the mod using your preferred method. Alternate Start-Live Another Life. In particular, the Alternate Start-Live Another Life.bsa, Alternate Start-Live Another Life-text.bsa, and Alternate Start-Live Another Life.ini files must be completely deleted.
