Comprehensive "cloud storage" system
New: v1.15.3 adds a full MCM menu with all options in the container settings spell, including options for removing the spell itself, assigning hotkeys to common functions, etc. Thanks in large part to the Sandman 53 for most of my working setup.
New: v1.15.1 adds many new individual categories and several new parent categories. You can now assign containers to all different types of weapons, armor, and clothing. See the first post below or in the comments section for more details.
New: v1.14.8 adds new "Laundry" category in Misc area. Assign a container to this new category, or access it remotely via a container setting spell, and place all stolen items (including gold) into it. They will be returned to you automatically when you close the container. The "stolen" flag was removed!
Important notice:
Specifying storage v1.14+ requires at least version 4.1.1 of JContainers SE (announced May 14, 2018) and SKSE build 2.0.7 or higher.
If you are upgrading from a version prior to 1.14, then you must follow these steps to avoid losing projects! First use the old version to load the save, then use the container to set the spell. From the dialog box, select Configuration Options, then Reset Mode, and finally Reset. This will pull all stored items from the specified storage into the inventory. When you see the completed message, create a new save and exit. Do not rebuild the filter or store any items. Install the new version, overwriting the previous files, and loading this new saved game. You'll have to reassign your containers and re-add custom items to the various lists, but no more waiting for filters to build and all your discarded portable storage still in place.
troubleshooting:
As usual, it's highly recommended that you don't change the order of modes or load lists, as this is something that's known to break due to the nature of Skyrim. For example, if you add mods to a filter list in a specified store and then delete those mods, these orphaned items may get stuck in the filter and cause strange behavior.
If you encounter any problems, cast the container settings spell and select "Reset Filters" from the "Configure" menu. NOTE: This option resets all filters (custom added items and ignore lists), but any specified containers will keep allocations and placed portable storage still in place.
Mod information:
This is my take on the autocategorization storage mode, which allows you to assign any number of containers in the world to one of many built-in categories. The way the mod works is that it redirects and changes the container name display, so any container in the world can be assigned without having to worry about regenerating the container deleting your project. You can specify any container anywhere in the world and use it to securely share access to that category's global storage.
All containers assigned to a category share storage with all other containers assigned to that category, so you can assign a Food Item or Alchemy Ingredient in all your homes and access those items without having to drag them back and forth. The focus is on simplicity and ease of use. Compatible with all added mod content: simply add items not detected by the sort filter to any container to make the category "learn" those custom added mod items, or secretly activate a container to set an ignore filter to prevent automatic sorting of content you don't want stored.
NEW: v1.14 represents a complete rework of the mod, using SKSE and JContainers... This allows for better performance (no more waiting for initial filters to be built or re …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
