About this mod Machine translation
Ahtar is Solitude's executioner, as well as a potential follower and marriage candidate. This mod gives him an aesthetic overhaul.
Ahtar is Solitude's executioner: you first meet him presiding over Roggvir's execution when you visit Solitude at the beginning of the game. Once you perform a small mission for him by hunting down an escaped criminal, he becomes available as a follower and marriage candidate. Ahtar sleeps at Jala's house every night, goes to The Winking Skeever most nights, and spends his days in Castle Dour Dungeon.
Ahtar has updated and tested Skyrim SE and Skyrim VR.
Ahtar is unique in that he is the only executioner in the game (excluding Helgen's executioner); in the vanilla game, he is the only one who wears the unique executioner armor and wields the unique Headsman axe. Vanilla Ahtar is also very unattractive.
This mod solves all of that and gives Ahtar a new, redesigned look, courtesy of my mod Better Male Presets. His behavior hasn't changed, but his hair and face are different, he's a little taller, he's a marriage candidate, and he doesn't walk around with a "disgusted" look on his face all the time.
Ahtar still has a rotten attitude, but now he looks prettier; perhaps now you can reap the benefits of recruiting this powerful two-handed warrior to fight by your side.
Some players may have difficulty installing this mod into an existing save game. Ahtar has a lot of scripting and AI, and his behavior can make it increasingly difficult to get into the game you get. You may need to use one or more of the following one-time console workarounds to restore normal functionality.
- Some players may have difficulty finding Ahtar after Roggvir is executed. If you can't find him in Jala's house, Castle Dour dungeon, or Winking Skeever, just enter the following console command to morph him to your location:
prid 198B0
mobile player
- Ahtar would not have offered his assignment to the player if they had already spoken to Jaree-Ra. If he refuses to offer you his quest, you can try placing a piece of armor in front of him. Allowing him to keep his armor will make him "friendly" and unlock his follower dialogue. If this doesn't work, you can just enter the following console command to set it to friendly:
setrelationshiprank 198b0 4
player.setrelationshiprank 198b0 4
- Once Ahtar reaches "friendly" status and becomes your follower, he should automatically become a marriage candidate when you approach him while wearing the Amulet of Mara. If Ahtar refuses to acknowledge that you are wearing the amulet, you can simply open the console, click on him to select him, and enter the following console command:
addfac 19809 1
After this, he should recognize your amazing catch.
- Sometimes Ahtar will walk around with a permanent sneer on his face. This mode sets his mood to neutral (vanilla Ahtar is always in the "disgusted" mood), but it doesn't always take effect in existing save games. If you want Ahtar to stop licking his lips at you, select him in the console and enter the following command:
setav mood 0
This change is more of a personal preference and entirely optional.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
