Added new racial head morphs for female elves to make heads smoother and more beautiful. No more triangular cheeks or crazy long chins. Very compatible.
Aesthetic Elf
Author: Ruddy88
Works on LE, SE and VR.
No conversion necessary.
TL; DR:
Give female elves a better head shape by reshaping the head morphs included in racial gear three.
Just install using mod manager, making sure to let the files overwrite when prompted.
Do not let other mods overwrite these files (see compatibility).
Do not use with Citrus Heads.
Should be used with Racemenu, ECE, Ethereal Elven Overhaul, Unique Characters, ECCO, and most if not all other character editing modes.
Does not affect NPCs as head deformations are engraved into facegen when crafted.
introduce:
Aesthetic Elves adds a new racial head morph for the female elf race.
These transformations only affect player characters, but mod authors can use these transformations to make their own NPCs using these transformations.
What is MORPHS?
Deformations are basically "changes" to the base mesh.
Skyrim uses a base mesh (FemaleHead.nif in this case) and uses a TRI file, which contains a series of vertex deformations that change the shape of the original mesh.
In the case of the elf, it takes a base human head mesh and then uses deformations to lengthen the chin, highlight the cheekbones, reshape the eyebrows, and just make a generally more angular and rather scary face.
This mod adds TRI files that change the female sprite's transformation for a better starting point (you can still customize your character with further transformations in the game slider).
feature:
Features of Aesthetic Elf:
*Shorter chin
*Smoother cheekbones
*Less sunken cheeks
*The face now actually has a jawline
*Brows are smoother and elves don't look like they hate everything
*Compatible with the face, nose and fine lines are not affected.
compatibility:
Not compatible with MODS that change the number of VERTEX of the head mesh
The only one I know of is Citrus Heads.
Should be compatible with the Rans Head mesh as it keeps the same vertex count but reshapes it. Since it's not reshaped to the extreme, it should still work fine, although this is untested (please leave a comment if you can confirm if it works).
This mod modifies files that other mods have edited, but in all cases I've seen, they only modified those files, including YGNordRace, which is also included in my mod (request and permission via tktk1). I don't see any other actual differences between other mods versions of these files and the vanilla files. So I haven't seen any compatibility issues.
This mod works with:
- Racemenu
*ECE
- ECCO (recommended)
- Ethereal Elven overhaul
*Unique character
However, in order to use my morph, you need to have my file overwrite any other files.
If you encounter anything strange, please let me know and I'll look into it.
BUGS:
I haven't found any difficulties so far. I've had several people test it with different versions without any serious issues.
The only problem I have is that your vanilla presets might look a little weird. This is simply because they are made for different shaped heads.
They can usually still be fixed with a few tweaks.
It's important to note that you may fire this model and immediately go "wow, they look bad", but remember that you are looking for a face that fits a different head and it won't look good until you mess with it. I'll be releasing a set of presets as optional files in the coming weeks, but for now just start tweaking and it's not hard to get nice sprites with these heads even with the vanilla sliders.
For those digging through mod archives, you'll notice that there are many duplicate files.
This is because my mod doesn't require ESP, only loose assets for editing.
Instead of providing a bunch of optional patches, I simply copied the files to the locations used by other mods (EEO and Unique Character).
Since there is no ESP you don't actually need these mods, but if you have them then …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
