About this mod Machine translation

Added customizable skill level requirements to join the College of Winterhold.

This mode adds a requirement to join the College of Winterhold. This is entirely voice-over, as Bethesda plans to have some requirements to join the academy, and record rejected lines. Additionally, when Faralda tests your magical abilities, she will test your highest qualifying skills rather than randomly selecting one of the magic schools. Just like in Vanilla, you can still bypass the test through persuasion, or by revealing to Faralda that you are a Dragonborn. In fact, the latter option has been changed to be available once you unlock Shout, rather than just after the main quest prompts you to go to the Academy.

As originally planned by Bethesda, joining the Academy requires an "apprentice" level of magic. This mod also adds an override requirement, so simply having a skill level of 25 will replace having that perk. Specific skill levels can be customized or disabled using the MCM.

This mod does not change the spells used in testing. It also doesn't change anything else in the quest or the Academy of Winterhold quest. Mirabelle Ervine still only gives novice Robes of Destruction, you still need to cast Small Guard for Tolfdir, and you still need to take the exam and join the Academy to gain access to the Academy grounds.

The plugin is ESPL, so it doesn't take up a slot. In the load order, it will be released before Khajiit Speak. The skill requirements make this mod compatible with any perk mod, although I did make compatibility patches for each perk mod that I could find to get the perk requirements. I intentionally did not make a compatibility patch for SPERG because the perk requirements for this mod are redundant. This mod is incompatible with other mods affecting Faralda testing.

This mod adds requirements to joining the College of Winterhold. It is fully voiced because Bethesda planned to have requirements to join the College at one point and recorded lines for being rejected. Also, when Faralda tests your magical prowess, she will test you on your highest eligible skill instead of randomly selecting one of the schools of magic. Like in Vanilla, you can still bypass the test with persuasion, or by showing Faralda that you are Dragonborn. In fact, the latter option has been changed to be available as soon as you unlock shouts, instead of only after the point when the main quest prompts you to go to the College.

As Bethesda originally planned, joining the College requires an "Apprentice"-level magic perk. This mod also adds an alternative requirement so that simply having a skill level of 25 will substitute for having the perk. The specific skill level can be customized or disabled using the MCM.

This mod does not change the spells used in the test. Nor does it change anything else in the quest or the College of Winterhold questline. Mirabelle Ervine still only gives novice robes of destruction, you are still required to cast Lesser Ward for Tolfdir, and you still have to take the test and join the College in order to enter the College grounds.

The plugin is an ESPL so it won't take up a slot. In the load order, it would go before Khajiit Speak. The skill requirement makes this mod compatible with any perk mod, although I did make compatibility patches for every perk mod I could find to get the perk requirement to work. I intentionally did not make a compatibility patch for SPERG since the perk requirement would be redundant with that mod. This mod is incompatible with other mods that affect Faralda's test.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
