Simple crossbow for the simple crossbowman. Scoped Bows inspired by OutLaw666.

describe
Added sight to the Steel Crossbow and Dwarf Crossbow, as well as their enhanced variants. Each crossbow has a different aiming design, 4 in total. These sights are aligned with the center of the player's screen when the crossbow is aimed (press and hold to attack) and are designed for first-person use, provided the first-person crossbow animation and camera perspective do not change from vanilla. This allows the crossbow to be used with the crosshair turned off.
The scope crossbow is a new weapon; the mod does not replace the vanilla crossbow.
night view
The addition of a Crossbow Field Kit (Miscellaneous) allows players to quickly switch between regular sights and "night sights" (not to be confused with "night vision"). This makes it easier to use the sight in low light conditions.
How to use: Craft a field kit at the forge (misc), equip an angled crossbow (only available on the enhanced version), then activate the kit in the misc inventory. Crossbows that are currently equipped will now have a night view. Activate again to switch back to normal attractions.
Since this can be accomplished by changing the crossbow's mesh, the crossbow's status, temper quality, and enchantments will not be affected by this trait.

Standard Edition: Obtain Scoped Crossbows by crafting them at the Forge. Crafting and tempering materials follows vanilla conventions, and the crafting restrictions for Dawnguard quests and location-related crossbows do apply. Skyrim is friendly, sort of.
Available on all versions of Craftable: The long-lost ancient secrets of crossbow craft have resurfaced and been revealed to all. Both vampires and mortals can now create ranged crossbows in any forge of their choice - which basically means quest and location restrictions no longer apply. Restriction removal also affects vanilla crossbows, as well as ammo for crossbows (steel and dwarf bolts). Not particularly Skyrim friendly due to the removal of mission restrictions.
Replacement version: This version replaces the meshes of all 4 vanilla crossbows with just the scope mesh. No new weapons added. Night vision and the Crossbow Field Kit are still available for the vanilla Enhanced Crossbow and the Enhanced Dwarf Crossbow.
No changes have been made to the crossbow's statistics, other than a slight increase in weights and values to represent the addition of range to the crossbow.
Recommended settings
The following mods, while not required, work with Simple Scoped Crossbows and help improve the experience:
Immersive HUD - Special Edition of iHUD by Gopher. Used to automatically turn off the crosshair when a ranged weapon is equipped, as well as many other nifty features.
No more glowing weapons modified by PukinDumpling. Aimed crossbows use lenses on the scope (purely for aesthetic purposes), and when the crossbow is charmed, the enchantment glow effect also extends to these lenses, making it harder to see and aim down the scope. This useful mod works by making enchantment effects transparent, although it also affects all weapons in the game.
question
The glowing weapon effect on magic targeting crossbows will partially obscure the lens on the scope. While still usable, if the lens has not been removed from these weapons, it is recommended to install the No Longer Glowing Weapons Mod (see recommended settings above), which does this with the rotation effect. Note, however, that this affects all …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
