Crash Site Selector
Requires BepInEx
Configure with BepInEx ConfigurationManager
Features:
- Allows you to select the crash site of your choosing.
- Pair it with BepInEx ConfigurationManager and you can change it while at the main menu.
- If you wish to not use the configuration manager, then see the Configuration section below.
- If you keep the site as "random", every new game you create without closing the game will be chosen randomly.
Installation:
- Download BepInEx from the link above
- Drag contents of the BepInEx zip file into Sons of the Forest game directory (right click in steam > browse local files)
- Open the.zip and drag BepInEx into the base game directory
- Enjoy!
Configuration:
By default, the crash site is still "random".
Included in this bundle is "faulty.soft.crashSiteSelector.default.cfg" inside the BepInEx/config folder.
If you wish to not use a configuration manager, then rename this file to "faulty.soft.crashSiteSelector.cfg" (Just remove the.default from the filename)
Inside this.cfg file, you will be able to edit the site to either: "random", "snow", "tree", "ocean"
Configuration Notes
- If you configure manually, you'll need to make sure the game is closed to make changes to the.cfg file.
- The reason for the.default is for future releases, so you don't accidently overwrite your selected site.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
- For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.
Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
