About this mod Machine translation
Makes Windhelm old and severely cold.
December 26, 2017: Fixed rogue snowdrifts and added some additional details.
Windhelm, is the oldest and coldest continuously inhabited city in Skyrim. Personally I think it needs to be older and much colder. To achieve this, I added a lot of new buildings, expanded the gray area somewhat, and completely filled the area with ice and snow. I think I can honestly say this is the coldest Windhelm mod ever. There is snow everywhere.
There are also a number of general architectural additions, including a bridge inspired by the one in JK's Windhelm, various shacks and other refugee dwellings in Gray Quarter, and the addition of a geothermal hot spring in Valunstrad, which I add to the fact that the area is relatively ice-free. It also makes sense that it's where the rich live, whereas much of the rest of Eastmarch was... well, bombed out due to volcanic activity. All in all, the effect is designed to make Windhelm feel more cramped, snowy, more lived-in, and in many cases more unpleasant.

My friends complained, bethesda put more icicles in your (sweltering) snow town" I made this mod while complaining to my friends
Comprehensive feature list:
-12 new buildings,
-A shabby little hideout for your broke refugee character
- Gray areas provide more space for refugees due to
Bad storm, Dunmer was reduced to sleeping outside
- Snow and ice all over the place - Snow and ice everywhere - Added some general architecture to make Windhelm feel a little more lived in -
everyone gets more firewood
A reasonably comprehensive list of questions:
- Performance takes a hit: looks bad from the palace towards the main gate, looks great from anywhere else
- Compatibility: Although probably not compatible with any other mod for editing Windhelm If you want to make the place more of a disaster you can try Snowy AF Windhelm
-Navmesh hasn't been changed yet, the NPC may have hit something, but I haven't seen anything yet
-The collision on the Gray Quarter roof is really bad. I fixed it so that it's at least navigable, but you'll no doubt find yourself able to get through planks, or at the edge of the quarter where you're supposed to be open and unable to get through (stockade towers come to mind). Feel sorry. It's baked into the model, so if you find a hole that you might hit, I can add more collision, but I can't really eliminate it.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
