Weather Doing Things is a small immersive mod that causes different weather types to affect all active characters. Its main purpose is to allow weather conditions (such as clouds, rain, snow, and wind speed) to affect gameplay, making travel more difficult.

When first released, only rain and snow effects were implemented

Weather Weather Things is a small immersive mod that causes different weather types to affect all active characters. Its main purpose is to allow weather conditions (such as clouds, rain, snow, and wind speed) to affect gameplay, making travel more difficult.

This mod was originally conceived out of necessity. A recent misfortune has left me with an outdated laptop that cannot handle the heavy load orders I once enjoyed. Why is it outdated? It is running GEFORCE 410M. This means that while I can still run Frostfall, iNeed, Loot, Degradation, etc., I can't avoid heavy script lag. As a result, I was forced to cut back on the load order. Unfortunately, while there are many mods that provide visual modifications to the weather, there are few attempts to make them affect gameplay. Thus, this was born.

In short, the Weather Thing can be described as a Frosty toaster alternative. It makes snow and rain a threat without being too demanding on low-end PCs. That being said, it would also complement other survival modes, including Frostfall, since I don't plan on using the toaster for long periods of time and I'd be damned if I made this mode incompatible with other must-have features in the loadout. It does not come with a built-in exposure system, so it is fully compatible with Frostfall or Hypothermia. It should also be noted that Weather Things Things' buffs and debuffs do not change the affected units' skills, health, magic, and stamina, as I intend to minimize overlap with these mods.

feature

Snowfall affects manual agility and reduces attack speed. Counteract this by wearing gear. Any equipment can help, but fur is generally more cold-resistant than other material types.

Rain (and swimming) increases resistance to fire while decreasing resistance to electric shock.

Regardless of gear, Rain and Snow reduce Stamina regeneration by 15%. That's because no matter what you wear in real life, bad weather can make travel difficult. (If changes are needed, please feel free to discuss with me)

Creatures, undead, machines, and werewolves are not affected by this mod's cold. It is assumed that they live outdoors and therefore maintain good health in their home environment. I originally had snow affecting Falmer, but I decided that since they were once snow elves, they should be excluded as well. Nords gain additional resistance to snow.

v1.01 Pleasant weather weakens fire resistance and increases frost resistance.

v1.01 Strong enough wind reduces movement speed by 15%. This happens at half the wind speed debuff threshold for Wet and Cold. Paired together, this can make players feel as if strong winds are at work.

Assign cloudy weather conditions.

Optional Solstheim plug-in separates regular snow and ash.

Create a debug spell to remove the effect from all units (no bug reported yet, please think ahead...).

Compatibility and performance//

==========================

Weather Module: This module should be compatible with all weather modules as long as they are marked with the appropriate flags in the creation kit. Most good weather mods can do this anyway.

Frostfall: Compatible. As far as I know, Weather Is There Anything other than speed of movement and fire/shock resistance won't touch any frost. The overlap here is intentional and is why I specifically chose 15% as the amplitude value.

Wet Cold: Compatible. To achieve this I actually looked into Isoku's mod (with permission). Interestingly, Weather Is …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
