About this mod Machine translation

Skyrim Special Edition is a "reverse" (copied) version of the mod of the same name that, with permission from the original mod's author, applies a pseudo "subsurface scattering" effect shader to simulate skin transparency and improve visual effects. No ENB or SKSE required. Lightweight. No scripts included except for the Modern Brawl Bug Fix.

This mod can be considered a "backport" of Skyrim LE's SSE mod.

SSE's original mod was designed to simulate underground scattering effects, essentially simulating the reflection of light into translucent objects such as skin.

In short, this mechanism would make humans/actors less like plastic skin, which is lacking in SSE.

While many of LE's ENBs can take advantage of this visual effect, most of Skyrim LE's ENBs with proper SSS effects are unfortunately too system-intensive for a potato laptop like mine.

Reference: http:

//wiki.step-project.com/Guide:ENBseries_INI/Subsurfacescattering So I found the original SSS shader mod on Dyna James' SSE and decided to do a bark port of that mod on SSE by copying the same mechanics and the same values to LE.

The visual effects shader for the PC and its surrounding actors enabled by this mod (some kind of red tint) isn't always visible, but I'm hoping that this shader will add some similar visual effects to the underground scattering at least to some extent.

As for the console command to turn on/off the effect:

Turn on the effect via console (default: ON): Open a console window, type "startquest ssslequest", then close the window.

Turn off the effect via the console: Open a console window, type "stopquest ssslequest", then close the window.

Require:

None (no DLC, no ENB, no SKSE) because it's just a "pseudo" SSS shader, not a real shader.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
