About this mod Machine translation
Changed the way skill books work by increasing experience points instead of individual skill points.
Ever had to reload your savings from half an hour ago because of a skill book you didn't want? Has your follower ever picked up a skill book only to completely forget about it and dismiss the follower? I have.
In short, Bethesda designed the skill manual mechanic just right. Its mechanics are annoying for meta players, and they're not very addictive.
Therefore, this simple mod was created to change the way skill books work. Now, instead of immediately adding skill points, you can get a stackable bonus of 20% of the experience gain rate for skills associated with the skill book. There are 5 skill books for each skill, in other words, if you manage to collect all 5, it is possible to double your skill acquisition rate.
The purpose of this mod is to make skill books rewarding but not annoying, and you can gain more benefits by hunting them early, just like they would for novice adventurers. Whenever you read a skill book you've never read before, a message box will appear informing you that you will gain that skill faster.
Version 2 made changes:
Making the Dragonborn DLC's Black Book also rewards a stack of skill boosts of 20% (all skills). Note, however, that the maximum possible skill improvement rate is still 100%, which can be achieved by finding all 5 books or finding 4 and receiving the perk.
I believe this is consistent with the original design of the perk, which doesn't actually do any good if you've already found all 5 books.
Install:
Like anything else, download and activate.
uninstall:
There's no stopping quest, no lasting script or anything.
Just deactivate and delete using your mod manager
However, as with any mod, even changing the order of esps may break your game, so uninstalling is not recommended
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
