About this mod Machine translation

Lightweight custom startup framework.

Skyrim Master of None Optional Launch (SMOK)

With SMOK, the magical visual test unit XTestGrantInt3 becomes a dedicated space for custom launch. Quest and the new Land Mod can provide custom starts without adding a main dependency on any other start mod.

This room has some added furniture for your convenience. They should be copied into any SMOK-compliant alternate boot module so that the custom boot activator is not left stranded.

There are maps of Skyrim and Solstheim on the left, and custom launch activators can be marked on the map. On the right, there are bookshelves for scrolls and notebooks or other "portkeys". There is a portal in the wall that transports you to the overflow space for those who are very visionary about their custom starting point.

At the back of this room, there is a corridor. This space is used for alternate startup modules that implement SMOK for specific configurations. The dead space in the corridor has exceeded the limit - for the SMOK trigger box.

In the "Alternate Start - Live Another Life" extension that implements SMOK, a developer quickstart for Main Quest will be added. But this is just an example, alternative startup mods could do other things, or not do it at all, and still be SMOK-enabled mods.

Intended to be installed as 3 separate mods.

(Plan feature below)

Note: Main Quest's Developer Quick Start does not equate to completion of these tasks. There is no guarantee that using it will not break any missions. This is similar to using the console command "setstage MQxxx 1", with the following convenience features:

  • Award Fus Ro Dah for all three words after completing "The Path of Sound" and stopping

*Manually specify Ralof/Hadvar initial selection

*((Optional) Teleport to a location suitable for the task line selected to enter the task HOWTO for customized SMOK startup

The easiest way is to copy the example, move the activator flag somewhere else, and change the trigger task attribute to point to your starting task instead of SMOK_DemoStart. Whether you're copying or making from scratch, the beginning of your SMOK should include

(1) Activator or something similar.

When activated, it should enable the trigger box (2) and move the player to the pool area at the end of the corridor in cell XTestGrantInt3.

(2) A trigger box located in the curved dead end of the corridor. Must be disabled first! Location: cell XTestGrantInt3, X=-900, Y=-90, Z=9). On player entry, the player should be teleported to a custom start destination.

The custom start should do everything in (1) in addition to teleporting the player character to the custom start location, unless you're doing something in (2) to override something configured in the override start module.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
