About this mod Machine translation

Swap orc and dwarf perks/armor/weapons in quality and level. Adjust the armor to create some "medium" armor sets.

Paulicus Rebalanced Requiem Smith

I've always thought it was odd that dwarf gear was of such low quality, especially being considered worse than orc gear. Finally I sat down and made this mod.

The original purpose of this mod was to swap dwarven and orc gear perks and weapon and armor attributes in the smithy tree - though it has since become a project to create more options for "medium" gear by adjusting armor attributes. I've also included a reworked Smithing revitalization tree based on Smithing Unchained. Details are below.

I've brought in some relevant armor tweaks from Minor Arcana, and I recommend using it with my mod (loading my mod later to avoid losing any of my changes).

Dwarf/orc balance

Dwarven and Orcish's forging perks have been swapped in the forging tree (Orcish unlocks at 25, Dwarven at 50). Armor and weapon stats have also been swapped to reflect this change.

V1.3: Combined weapon damage changed from Requiem 3.2 to all versions of the mod. Compared to V1.2, Elf weapons deal less damage, and Orcs and Dwarves deal slightly more damage.

Rebalanced "medium" armor

Orcish, Dwarven and Scale armor/weight values have been rebalanced to create a class of "medium" armor. The Orcish is a mid-tier heavy armor with lower defensive capabilities than similarly tiered armor, but it also weighs significantly less (about 40 pounds for a 4-piece set), a nod to previous games that were classified as medium armor. The Dwarf's equipment will be rebalanced to be a super heavy suit of armor that provides substantial protection. Additionally, the Steel Plate armor has been slightly buffed, making it a solid choice for mid-level heavy armor (Requiem 1.9 only). Taken together, these three kits should provide a range of mid-level options for heavy armor users who want to balance protection, weight savings, and mobility.

Scaling armor has been modified to the "Light/Medium" armor set. It is a bit heavier than other light armors, but can protect Elf Armor and Glass Armor, and has some arrow resistance (RIP 1.9.4).

I've included a few other heavy armors without modifications/changes compared to the Minor Arcana I've included (Imperial, Falmer, Worf Armor, and a few others). I also edited the Dragonborn DLC's armor to create more medium armor of varying quality levels. You will still need a Dragonborn-Requiem patch to enable crafting/tempering recipes that are disabled in base Requiem, as patching them is outside the scope of this mod.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
