RUSTIC SPRIGGAN is a high-resolution redraw of the four Spriggans found in Skyrim. The two in the base game are the Spriggan and Spriggan Matron, and two are found in the DLC, the Dawnguard Earth Mother variant and the Dragonborn Burnd Spriggan variant.
Update: I added an optional file with a new texture for the animated leaves effect. I never cared about the generic blob leaf shape, so I defined detailed leaves for it. Also included are leaf textures for the body so the leaves will sprout from the body as well. I made some changes to the gradient texture, the main improvement being the "Mother Earth" variant whose leaves are no longer black but purple to better match the inner glow effect color.
The Spriggan is a strange creature, as it appears to be made of dead wood rather than a living tree. They resemble a collection of driftwood pieces rather than animated tree trunks. I wanted to bring out the grain and cracks of the weathered wood, so the new "antique" texture had more surface detail and depth than the original texture. The wood now has a more ancient appearance. When wood is exposed to fire, the graining and cracking become more noticeable, so I tried to turn this look into a "burned" version.
I've never been a big fan of the animated "leaf" effect, especially the "Mother Earth" variant, as it's black and obscures the texture, making it difficult to take good screenshots. Maybe someday someone will work to improve this effect.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
